Not entirely OT: Ouch!

Pouring with rain here! Went to Woodbridge this morning - walked into a bollard, nearly fell over, grabbed onto an old lady with a stick and nearly took her with me. Twisted my foot (think I`ve broken a bone in it - I heard an ominous crack - OUCH!!!!)

Why the hell don`t they make bollards 6 ft high so you can SEE `em!!!

At least I won`t be able to do much but stitch for a few days, so it`s not ENTIRELY OT. Nearly finished my Sioux, so am doing a few bookmarks using Algerian Eyes with variegated thread, as a bit of light relief.

Hope you are feeling a bit less sore today - I will be on the look out for lurking bollards. I hope you didn't drop the bread.

Keep the foot still for a few days and enjoy being waited on. Its always such a temptation to start dancing when you finish something!

I forgot to say in the other Helen M Stevens post that they have her books in the library.

I looked for them on Amazon and one was valued at over £167.00 !!!!!!! I ordered 6! (Oh yeah?)

The bollards lurk just on the car-park side of "Loaves and Fishes", just in case you`d like to keep an eye on them! Fortunately John was carrying the bread and a couple of rather nice but expensive Dunoon "Cottages" bone china mugs I`d just bought at Martin Hogg`s! When I`d recovered enough to speak, I said something rather like "Bollards!"

Hey - guess what, everyone, - Carolyn Potts and her daughter and grand-daughter are coming to see us at the end of May!

Thanks Mirjam. i was just saying to Sheena that I thought it was a bit better yesterday - but that was just the painkillers - so of course I`ve made it twice as bad! the trouble is I don`t like just sitting still all day - particularly with all the lovely snow we`re getting at the moment!

Pat,

while it is true there is not much to be done for broken toes - especially those other than the great toes, if you have a break in the metatarsal (middle of foot) or heel it may very well need to be set with screws and plates, or at the very least put in a plaster cast to help it heal in the proper position.

Give your GP a call if you haven't already - just to be sure. It would be foolish to let something unnecessarily become a permanent injury or painful deformity even if it does mean hours in the casualty department. We need our feet to get around!

Thanks, Pam, but I did it once before, falling off my exercise bike, and there was nothing to be done then!. In any case they avoid giving me anaesthetics because of a heart problem, so I wouldn`t care to risk it! I`ve rested it a lot and it`s mending slowly and is a lot less painful now - as long as I`m careful! At nearly seventy I don`t propose to go in for long-distance running, LOL!
