Garden Ridge!!!

Yep I screwed up and and ENABLED myself. Now that is getting BAD!! Anyhow I have been trying to ORGANIZE all my bits and pieces and scraps that I recently acquired and needed some more SOMETHING(s) to put stuff in. Not to mention the stuff thata couple NO NAME people sent me because they THOUGHT I may NEED it!!

Anyhow I went to Garden Ridge because it is near work and they have EVERYTHING and are cheap. For those that have one of those stores nearby to go to, WELL DON'T!! (if you do not know about this store!) It is like a lss but they have mucho other stuff too!!! They have say a ton of stuff for a buck, you don't think too much about it until you ge to the register and you have a HUNDRED of those little buck things - WAH!!!

Well anyhow stupid, stupid, DUMB BUTT me, went today and of course I HAD to go by the scrapin' stuff. Well fate was in the air, they had a sale on most stuff - WAH!! I got a bunch of neat stuff, mostly paper!!! (what are YA'LL THINKING?) They carry a brand of paper out of PA that is called the "Fat Pack". It is kool and different from others that you get at Michael's and Joan's. They had 2 & 3 and i JUST HAD TO HAVE them, not just in 12x12 but 8.5X11 - double WAH!!! So I ended up with about 600 new pieces of paper.

BUT ALSO, They had these really great looking packages of things punched from mulberry paper. i got a few and wanted more but after being hoodwinked and hooked by the paper packs, well I sssllloooowwwly faded away from that rack!

At the register these two ladies that we kept looking over each other in the scrap stuff area, well they were behind me in line. i noticed they did not have any of those great paks of paper and said "ya'll did not get any paper." One said back to me she thought she had enough and her husband would kill her if she brought more home. i said well I feel the same way but being a Floozy I just had to have more for my collection! They laughed and asked me what a Floozy was. Of course I had to tell them and they really laughed and said they have to 'member that!!

So for those that have a GARDEN RIDGE Store nearby, you MUST really overcome those FEARS of going and GO!! You may find stuff that would throw off the other half of your real intentions!!!

nada for 05 (unless making TONS of mosiac strips and organizing counts!)

Dave,

Sounds like fun. I have a store similar to it called the rag shop

and am happy for you.

I looked at your store

and am unhappy to report there isn't any close to me. {{{boo hoo}}}}

Now look what you've done, you master enabler you! There is one of those here in LR and I've never been there! I've been by it, but I never thought they might have scrapping supplies there! And it's on the side of town with the big LSS.

600 pieces of paper!!! My goodness.... I don't think I'm in the same league at all! Now you've just got to do some scrapping!

LOL

I had to chuckle the other night at the grocery store. Even they have gotten on the scrapbooking bandwagon. Not much to choose from, of course, but they had to "join in". (For those in SoCal, the grocery is Ralph's.)

My DH has ordered a lot from Dick Blick for his oil paintings. Wonderful hubby that he is, bought me cardstock for Christmas from Dick Blick. It came in poster sheets. I don't know the exact size, but they are bigger than 20"x23". My first reaction was "Yipee! Paper!". My next question was "is the next present the 23" paper cutter?! :-)

One of these days I'll have to bring these sheets into the office and use the industrial paper cutter.

I never thought about the larger size cardstock. I wondered where they got it from. I have seen small albums made from longer pieces of it on DIY. Thanks for the tip. Now I have to make a trip to Dick Blick. Don't know where I could possibly put a cutter that size. I think we all need a room like Lynne's. Sandy

Well, I looked up Garden Ridge on the internet and there is one in Florida but is 4 hours from me. Don't think I'll be going there anytime soon. But it was neat to see if there was one close. Darn it :(

Hi Dave!

Paper? Scraps? Organizing? Oh my! (a la "lions and tigers and bears, oh my!) Apparently, there are times that the enablers just get to get enabled. :-)

When I lived in St Louis, we had a few Garden Ridge's around town and I thought they were just a cool store to wander through- but then again that was before my addiction... errrrrrrrrr..... affliction... errrrrrrr...... ummmmm..... this thing with scrapbook paper I've got. :-)

Just think of it this way, you could have all of us enablers in your back yard and then you'd be REALLY in trouble....this way, with us spread out all over the country, you *could* conceivably not be enabled here and there. :-)
