Thank you for all the Prayers

Thankyou for all the prayers and well wishes. I am feeling much stronger today than I did last week. I sound like a frog. But hey, I can live with that. Was back at work today, and it was nuts. I was only out for part of one day. And even missing a day I still ended up with overtime. I think I need a vacation.....Any suggestions.

Danielle is coping. She's terrified of the thought of driving on her own. She'll be eighteen in June, and is still not on the road. I fear this will delay her even longer.

Yes I do have a suggestion... come to Little Rock! I've got a guest room that you can use and if we coordinate things, Dave and whomever else wants to can come and meet up here too! We'll get DH a hotel room, LOL!

I live in upstate NY, I would offer for you to visit me but there is no scrapbook stores near by. The closest is Michaels and thats a 45 minute drive one way. But instead of shopping we could scrap all day.

My daughter had almost the same problem. Her cousin was killed as a pedestrian by a car the week before his 15th birthday. They were the same age. She refused to take drivers training or even attempt to drive. Was terrified she might hit a child if she drove. She didn't overcome that fear until she was almost 20 and necessity kicked in. Give her time and encouragement. My thoughts are with you. Sandy

Thanks Sandy. I'm not gonna pressure her. As frustrated as I am being chaffeure everywhere, all the time to a Senior with multiple functions, who is also a full time Mom, and works part time herself, I'm not gonna pressure her. When she's ready emotionally I'll help her handle the road. Too many crazies out there, and if she's not mentally ready for it, I'm not gonna push her.

The thought has crossed my mind. Now if I could figure out to do with my clan. 'Cause, well ..... selfish me.....it's a trip I'd love to take alone. I'd really love some me time.

My son never learned to drive until he was 23. I am not sure why, I offered driving lessons on a number of occasions, but he turned me down. I never learned until I was 26. I lived in Montreal which like many of the big Canadian cities has absolutely wonderful public transit. Since I couldn't afford a car, it wasn't till I moved to the suburbs that I decided that I "needed" to drive. I wouldn't worry overly much if she doesn't want to learn now. When she is ready I am sure that she will ask you.

I don't feel so bad then :) I'm 27 and still don't have my license. I did take the drivers ed and passed the road test. Just didn't pass the maneuverability in Ohio. One day I will try again here in Florida. Probably should be soon though.

But like everyone else I'm sure when she is ready she will ask. Just riding in the car with DH, I see how people drive and its scary.

I have a friend who gave up driving about 12 years ago.

Although, he lives downtown, has a walking commute to work, and lots of willing friends to drive him around (He does a lot of local theatre, so is lucky to get rides from castmates)

And while sometimes I rather not have to drive him home when he visits, when I drive sometimes I see all those crazies out there and really can understand his choice!

My sister-in-law's sister is a year old than me....and she has never had a driver's license either. I doubt she ever will, either. She lives in Chicago (in the city) and the public transportation is readily available, so I guess it's ok. Dunno! I had my pilot's certificate before I had a driver's license. :-) Theresa in IL

We also have public transportation too. I guess with 1 kid and 1 on the way I really need to get one :) Plus if my DH doesn't want to go to the scrapbook store, etc. then I can take myself while he watches the kids.

You fly your own plane? That's cool.

Wow, now that is really cool! Is you license up to date? Can you rent a plane? What kind of plane can you fly?

Did I say that I think your being a pilot is really, really neat?
