I just received an email from my nephew. The doctors say Chris is recovering. The pus from the infection blocked his airway and that caused him to stop breathing and seizure like reactions several times. The are washing out his lungs with saline solution every 2 hours and suctioning out the "gunk". Each time there is less and paler gunk. He still has a breathing tube but parents and doctors were to conference at noon today about removing it. Thanks for your prayers. He still has a way to go but at least it is improvement. Peggy

Oh peggy I am so glad to hear that he is doing great!! My prayers go out to him ad the family.
Do they know what he had yet? Here last week in the news they put out a alert to people with kids, especially infants. Seems that there is almost a epeidemic of IRV (?) some sort of respiratory virus going around that is worse than the flu, causes pnemonia and death to infants. SCARY!!!!
nada for 05 (unless making TONS of mosiac strips and organizing counts!)

Yes, Dave is correct. There as been a lot of babies (infants) who have pased due to IRV. It is very scary and there are no warnings. I'm not bringing this to scare anyone with infants but its something that parents need to be made aware of. That is how we lost our precious Dylan on December 6. He was 40 days old. Sorry to bring up a depressing topic but I was surprised when I read Dave's email on the subject. Dave if you have any articles on IRV or links please send them my way if you would. We want to learn more about this before we have another a baby. Thank you.

Dave, the doctors said he had a staff infection in his lungs. The school nurse had sent him home Friday thinking he had the flu but he had a lot of croup like symptoms. They found that was caused by the pus and mucus from the infection blocking his trachea. He's on high doses of IV antibiotics and the flush out his lungs every 2 hours. He may be off the vent now. I haven't heard since this morning and that decision was being made at noon. Thanks for you concern and prayers. Peggy
Oh my... thank goodness his parents were keeping a close eye on him. I'm so glad to hear he's getting better. How scary that must have been for them. My prayers are with him.
