NOT OT: got a new convert

I work as a special ed paraprofessional one-on-one with a special ed student. I keep a project with me for the "down" time when I need to be nearby but not actively involved with my student. His health class teacher noticed me working on my Cranberry Sampler (can't remember the designer - the project is in my book bag in the other room)- she mentioned how she inherited a lighthouse project from her grandmother who recently entered a nursing home and if she brought it in, would I show her how to get started?? sure I said....and after a quick lesson interrupted by students with questions about their STD projects (my student was working with his project partners and didn't need me!), the health teacher reported this morning that she actually completed one line of stitching! I told her if she ran into snags I'd help her out.

And the homebound student I work with after school has begun to recognise some words in her science book (very long story - email me for details!)

Two nice happy dances in 1 day!

Love those happy dances!!! congrats on making progress with your student, I have stitching friends in VA who work with special needs kids and I learned how challenging and rewarding it can be.
