Off topic - a little tiny bit of stitching

That was one thing I was really impressed by yesterday - just how well the kid was calling offsides.

Please do - I wonder if it the one we've seen a few times at the Monarchs

Sigh - does this mean there is another cultural icon I've ignored?

Oh, don't I wish! Nope, I live in Kansas. Just a SK (and Maine - Lobster, dontcha know!) fan.

I thought I read that Lisey's Story isn't really scary? Which would be why the Post Book Review loved it.

Last think I read by SK was his article on Nancy Grace.

I had to search for the article, but I found it. I can't believe he could even stand to watch that woman in the name of research. I did love when one of the soap operas parodied her with a character called Grace Nancy.

That's good - it's all about positioning ;^)

Probably - but he's been up since last season. We have a couple of friends that you probably see either lining or reffing.

Probably - but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Given that he spent the first two periods alone (second never showed), I thought he did great and the older gent that eventually arrived acted as linesman.

I suspect so!

Nah - I have better things to lose sleep over.

That's kind of weird. Generally speaking, the USAH guidance is if someone is soloing - when the other guy gets there you go 2 man. If it was supposed to be 3 person, then you decide - either start 1 & 1 , and the late arrival becomes the 2nd linesman, or you start 2-person, and the later arrival is SOL. And, for the most part - high school or Midgets are not to be done solo. Period. Very, very, rare exceptions. Safety of all at issue.

Yeah, there is one young (23?) year old, very nice, guy who we've known forever, and came up in the Ft. Dupont Hockey Club - which has gotten NHL diverstiy awards. He's a DC kid (not to be construed as from a horrible inner city live, but nonetheless, not from a well-to-do family). I can remember doing his evaluations, and working with him on his presence and back skating - and now he did so well at the regional camp and is doing big time Juniors. We're pretty sure he'll be going the pro-route. Almost done with college - so we give him grief because he and a couple of the other youngsters are spending weekends heading to NE to do college or Juniors. Hoping he'll make the AHL camp next year - some of them doing coast league now. One of our friends - who's 30 ish - has been doing the AHL for a few years - which he fits in with his real engineer job (even passed his PE a couple of years back).

Don't we all. Although, we do like the "make it work" - Tim Gunn cheer . We're pretty sad - and may be reduced to drinking heavily again - as we hear that's what folks do at the minor league games. We were stunned and amazed at the CAPs last night, beating the Avs 5-3. And w got to see our friend Steve in the booth with the regular broadcasters. His wife does XS & quilts (we were guilty of buying quilt block patterns together in Alaska last time we were on vacation with them - while our hockey boys sat out front and moaned).

These were all girls 10 and under. I had assumed that when the elder arrived, he's take over. He didn't, which I think was great for the young man.

More another time! off to school for Fall Fest.

There's no such thing as taking over. Unless it was a very high level game, going 3-person - in which case, then the new arrival would take the arm-bands at the break between periods.

Basically you finish the way you start. But, aren't your kids just done 2 man anyhow? The kid was soloing with armbands on? That's just weird. If not - then he was just doing the normal solo thing, and the other guy should've just been the 2nd man when he arrived - but he evidently didn't feel like making any calls. When you 2 man - you line and ref - it's fun with the littler ones.

Have fun. I'm making little progress on my sewing. Yuck.

Normally, we always have two out there for "travel games" (versus in house rec league games). It saves hassles later.
