OT -- a ponderous point

In addition to mostly skimming rctn, I lurk on several yahoo and ning discussions. Several of them have to do with cloth and beaded dolls. I've noticed that some/many of the participants look like computer illiterate, clueless, boring grannies but they produce very outrageous characters.

Are the dolls their alter egos or mere artistic endeavors?

Dolls , and esp doll making is a facinating subject. I keep finding books that deal with various aspects of Doll Making. i also know quite a number of Doll makers , each different in her /his techniques , each different in the stories they Breath into their dolls` characters. over the years, i have thought about the enigma of the relation between Doll and it`s maker ,,, Some are or look like alter egos, some create the children they never had , some create a family lost and gone. Some have a vision of another world with Other creatures.. I think a similar question can be asked about writers , poets any artist!!!!! mirjam
