Re: Yahoo

I've received a message porporting to be from Yahoo:

"Please reactivate your Yahoo! Groups email address From: Yahoo! Groups ( snipped-for-privacy@yahoogroups.com)"

I am used to telling Ebay about the dodgy messages we get aimed at getting our details, so am wary of this Yahoo one. I tried to get the full path but Hotmail have changed things and the place I used to go to click on to show the full path has vanished.

Does anyone know if its genuine (I haven't opened it).

Just sign into your Yahoo account and see what happens. You should be able to take care of anything that needs doing right in Yahoo.

Are you a member of any yahoo groups? Are you getting messages or are you bouncing? Go to the group home page you're a member of and check to see if you're bouncing.

Sally.. a couple of weeks ago i logged in to Yahoo messenger and i too got a Yahoo pop-up asking me to confirm my emailaddress.. Not sure if it was a fake or real message i ran my Phissingfilter over it and it said it was ok.. so i confirmed my emailaddress and have had no problems at all.. ( did run my spyware and virusscanner after confirming just in case... no problems found..) Btw.. Yahoo has an emailaddress ( something like Spoof@ yahoo ..) you can find that on the Yahoo website.. you can mail there if you are not sure a message is real or not.. they will mail you back saying Yes this is a real Yahoo message or NO.. It's a fake don't use it.. Hope this helps a little..

It's real :-)

i have had times when i got them 4 or 5 times a day.. not spam but just yahoo mucking up and putting me on the bounce list - just click and you will be removed from the bounce list and within 24 hours your messages from yahoo will be back to normal.

As far as I can see I am still getting messages normally. I reported it to the Yahoo phishing people. Had an e-mail back saying that the dept. concerned would be getting in touch with me within the next couple of days, but am still waiting.

I had the message again today.

This happens to me all the time. For some reason Yahoo and Hotmail don't get along and Hotmail will start bouncing emails from Yahoo Groups. What ticks me off most is that it often takes Yahoo several days to warn me that email is bouncing so I have to go back and read the messages I missed directly on the group site.

If you're concerned that it isn't a valid message go to your Yahoo group and sign in. If email is bouncing you'll see a bounce message warning at the top of the group homepage.
