OT: Hooray - I`m mobile!

My mobility scooter arrived at last and it`s GREAT! So good to know I can go visiting friends on my own sometimes, or just pop to the shops. We`re both having fun with it and now we can BOTH take Maggie (the dog ) out, taking it in turns with the scooter. I ride it when my leg hurts and John has a go when his back gives out. Maggie has decided that she likes it too - and just hops on for a lift!!! I just have to watch that she doesn`t catch her very long, flowing tail in anything.

It`s been far too hot to do much with it today, but we had fun with it this evening when it was just a little cooler. They`re prmising us temperatures of possibly 100F on Thursday! Pretty incredible for England, and we`re not looking forward to it at all. Then, of course, thunderstorms are promised - but they always seem to miss us. I love them, too!

Can`t wait until tomorrow.

How wonderful that you've got the scooter! And what fun for all of you.

I can sympathize about the heat -- it's 102 here right now in Louisiana, USA, with a heat index of 107.

I'm so happy for you. I've tried to talk my mother into one, but she's stubborn. I'm so glad you are enjoying.

We hit 101 in northeast Wisconsin the other day. It's been a blistering few days here.

Oh DO try to persuade her, Dianne. It just gives you that little bit more independence, being able to go off and have small adventures all on your own.

I heard that America is having a heatwave too - and what with another (albeit much smaller) Tsunami in Indonesia, it makes you wonder what we`ll be in for for the rest of the year.

It is nasty here - low 90s and high humidity. I was fried by the time I quit in the garden at 10 AM.

We hit 107. Don't know what the heat index was.

FOLLOW UP: At 9:30 PM, it's still 86. Looks like another night when the overnight "low" will be in the 70s. Who needs clothes?!
