OT: Kahlua recipe

Okay, Lucille (and anyone else who wants it), here's the recipe:

HOMEMADE KAHLUA

4 Cups white sugar 4 Cups water Bring to a boil and boil five minutes. Pull off heat. Add 3/4 cup instant coffee crystals. Stir very well until dissolved. Cool.

Add 2 Tbsp. of pure vanilla and 750 ml of 80% Vodka. Stir to blend. Put in mason jars and set in cool dark place for 2-3 weeks. Makes about 9 pint jars.

Enjoy!

Years ago, I made a recipe that called for vanilla beans, and put it in empty Michelob bottles. Somehow, though, we didn't make it thru the storage period. it tasted pretty good the next day!

Let's see, 9 pints should last close to forever. It looks like it would be too thick to drink straight up and if you just use a couple of ounces at a time to top a dish of ice cream, it would be hard to use up that much for a long time. Come on over and instead of bothering with that, we'll just break open a bottle and drink it neat, or with cream, or with vodka, or just drown some ice cream.

My college roommate was giving this stuff for Christmas presents. We found all sorts of stuff to do with it, and it didn't last very long at all!
