Don't know how it worked, but we tried it six times with total success ... and the answer came out with different symbols each time, too (I thought perhaps it was one of those where the answer would always result in a certain symbol, but not so).

I'm sure there's a logical computer reason, but I know nothing logical about computers, so ...

I tried it 10 times (sometimes just random numbers) and it worked every single time. Spooky. After all, you don`t have to do anything physical with it - just work out the number in your head or just THINK of it. Weird!

I wonder if when we stare at the symbol it etches itself somehow into our own vision and when you click the circle, which is blinking, you might actually be seeing the image from your own eyes.

I'm trying to make sense out of what I wrote, but I'm sure you all can tell I'm not being very technical and I'm probably all wrong.

I do agree, it's definitely a fascinating thing and I would love to know how it was done.

Certainly not in my case - it worked just as well when I just more or less glanced at it - I certainly didn`t stare at it. I know what you mean, though - there ARE some things similar to what you describe going around - you stare at a green (say) or red symbol, and when you look somewhere else on the screen you see a totally different coloured effect.

I must have done it a couple of dozen times, and it came out right every time, except once and then my arithmetic was off!

It works because, no matter how many double digit numbers there are, there are only a few "answers" when you follow those directions. And each answer on the chart has the same symbol. The symbols on the chart change each time you refresh, so the symbols are different each time you try. Neat effect!
