It works because, no matter how many double digit numbers there are, there are only a few "answers" when you follow those directions. And each answer on the chart has the same symbol. The symbols on the chart change each time you refresh, so the symbols are different each time you try. Neat effect!

Interesting - it worked for me every time - are you sure you are adding and subtracting correctly? *ducking and running*
