OT: Scotland & Ireland Travel Helo

Hi Guys, DH and I will be going to the ASME yearly convention held in Glasgow, Scotland in mid June. WE will also be traveling to Ireland either before the conference or after. We have looked on different ways to get to/from Glasgow and either Dublin or Shannon. We can't seem to find any direct flights -- everything looks as if it goes through Amsterdam or some other European city! WE thought about taking a ferry or something similar but haven't been able to find anything that we can make sense of. Obviously we need HELP!!! So -- do any of you who live in either Ireland or the UK have travel info that would help us? There has to be some airline that flies directly between Scotland & Ireland but we haven't been able to find it. If we need to go to Edinburgh to catch a direct flight, that would be fine. Personally, I would realty like to take a passenger ferry but don't know if anything like that exists. People must have to travel between the two countries so HOW do they do it??? Help Please :-). Was REALLY hoping you would have the info I needed and sure enough -- here it is :-). This is EXACTLY what I was looking for -- something that will give us enough info to be able to decide what we want to do. Thanks bunches & CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I would hazard a guess that you didn't wear green today? Didn't get to change my shirt, but it is aqua. LOL

I get giggle because we have discovered JIm's great (x3?) forbears came from Ireland. We know full well that was a stopping place after the Crofters rebellions etc. Murray of Argyll, or Murray of Tullibardine I don't know.

I shall continue the quest.

Wear green ? Are you crazy, they were all doing the Irish thing at bridge and I reminded them what a murderous crowd they are !

You know you can access births/deaths/marriages/census records through Glasgow. They make a charge, but it's cheaper than going there.

I believe Dawne is on her way over currently, might even be cranking over NS tonight headed for the Great North Circle.
