Good Morning

Hey ladies! (and gent(s)!)

I scrapbooked this month! Small but did :D Of course i took no pics of it before I sent it to its new home. (it's a two sided 8.5x11 page for Matthew's school room)

BUT, I've been touching my supplies and getting inspired to do more. I've made some cards. I actually have a list a mile long of names to send birthday cards to for the month of October who are downrange. I need to get hopping since the month ends in a week :X BUT, I also have plans to scrapbook this week. As much as I hate doing it by myself, I will if I must (and thus I do since no one is into it in my little circle of acquaintances here). I need to make room for our move next year LOL We're going to be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over our weight limit moving back to the states. Oh which is likely to be back to Minot ND. Oh help me! (we volunteered to do this) Anyone in the lovely Prairie Rose state? (they had lots of those painted on things for sale when we were first there from 93-96) The prospects of crafting supplies doesn't sound too good from first reports. If only I was young again and didn't have so many hobbies LOL

Oh I'm Susan... a long ago one time regular here. I'm trying desperately to get back again. I read most every digest that comes in and think "I need to get in there" but always find something else yelling at me. I'm married to DH for 15+ years now. 2 boys, CG 13 going on adulthood and Matthew 4 soon to be 5. We currently call a small village 25 minutes from Heidelberg Germany home. Oh is it ever lovely over here. (well actually a drive out past the vineyards yesterday was kind of frightening but during the summer... GREEEEEEEEEEEEN every whee) I scrap, cross stitch, knit, crochet, read (haven't read so much in the previous 15 years as I have since moving to Germany - something to do with limited US programming LOL), and sometimes write. Ohio is home and where we likely will retire. (I spent last weekend in London and decided I'm really just a country girl)

So, I'm off to fondle my scrapping supplies and print some pics. I've got our London trip to scrapbook. I got to have my pic with Nick cage and Pope John Paul II ... in wax of course. :D It was a great trip, if just a LITTLE expensive LOL

Have a great Tuesday! Matthew and I are off to lunch with one of the ladies at DHs office. She got home a month ago and we made plans to do this today so Matthew could join us. They're about the same.... GIGGLING :D

Good to hear from you Susan! I'm so glad you had a chance to scrap, even if you didn't get pics of it. (Just what kind of sharer are you? LOL) Sounds like the London trip was well worth the cost! Can't wait to see the LO's you do for your trip.

Nice of you to check in. You haven't been gone so long that I don't remember you. Glad to hear you're touching your supplies. Most of the time I don't even get that far... I just look at my supplies. :) I have a few Halloween treats to finish then I may do some LO's. Looking forward to seeing pics of your London trip.

I sat reading your post thinking of all the things I would buy if I were in Germany. I love that Polish pottery--and the German stuff. Not to mention I would take a trip over to Scotland and Ireland--visit Marilyn of course and get some Baleek and Irish linen. Whew! I don't think I would have money left over for scrapbook stuff. We were waaaaayyy over our weight limit from our move from NJ to GA and they didn't say anything. We waited and waited. My oldest is the only kid who owns his own tractor--it is a lawn tractor but you know it had to go with us along with years of furniture collecting. I will have to ask some friends if they had weight disputed from any moves overseas. I think if we were to move overseas, a lot of our stuff would be in storage for that time period. We are hoping to be here for another year and a half so I can finish school. Then we have one more move before DH retires. Don't know where we will go then, the more DH gets promoted the less of a choice we have. Glad to see you. Jacqui

WTG there Susan and hope it was some of those great pictures fro Germany too!!

Minot? is that somewhere between here and there? One of the 2 states I have yet to be in and since there is NOTHING, read that NOTHING there probably will never get there - LOL!

Oh sorry Susan for the uplifting chant, but just could not help myself - LOL! You know being army and you Air Force, Yes I know we have our CHOICE spots too - LOL!

What to do with all the over stuff, mail some of it home and then as far as book, reading material and such, often times the inspectors will consider them as pro items for school and will not charge them against your weight. Just a thought, especially if you pack them yourself.

Have fun and don't get too up on all the Gluhwein!!

(fretting that i am not there enjoying it!)

((HUGS!!))

Oh I did Poland last October. I want to go back and get a few more pieces. (I came home with 16 boxes as it was LOL) We got our cuckoo clock the first weekend we were here last year. iF I don't get a schrank, at least I have our clock. (Which is stil in the box in the basement due to the cinder block walls ACK!) I don't if we're going to make it to Scotland or not. DH wants to go. We did Dublin last Thanksgiving. :D One of the gals invited us to join her family in going to Italy for Thanksgiving since DH isn't here. I thought about it but I think i'm done travelling with two children until DH returns. LOL Then we're off to Garmisch for the week of Christmas. THOSE should be some AWESOME pictures! The ones I took this summer when the boys and I went for a few days were nice.

We've paid one time for going over and if they'd done it the way we wanted, we wouldn't have but you know the military. $&%^& It's ok... that's been 13 years ago. LOL

We have two moves give or take before DH moves. Alot depends on the news we get tomorrow (hope tomorrow.. DH said tomorrow). He finds out if he gets a P or DP for his board next month. Hopefully his running the place for 3 months down there will be a help. Still haven't heard of our next assignment. Dh said last night "we don't move for 7 months so why would they tell us yet?" Uhhhhhhh being overseas makes it a little more difficult. Reminds me I need to call the housing office at Minot just to see what the wait list is like at the moment. When we first went there, we walked into housing on Monday and moved in like on Thursday LOL Don't see it being so easy. We never dreamed of actually getting overseas. I spent 14 years of this wondering if we'd ever make it. Finally did and then they cut us short one year. (it's ordered as 3 and they're sending us home next year at 2 :( )

As to layouts... I'm going to try and scrap this weekend. I need to print out my London pics and get busy. We had a ball.

I have rambled enough... need to get Matthew ready for the bus to pick him up for school. I've had a massive migraine thing happening since last night and can't find my meds for it at the moment. (misplaced when I took them last night) I have errands to run and do as well. CG has a weekend campout with the scouts. YAY! Only one kid to corral :D

What dos hubby do? Is there anything he could do for AWACS or signal support? Then he could ask for Tinker. The standard of living is cheap here and I live like 2 blocks nrth of base.

Just thinking, ok WISHING!!

Susan!!! I didn't think you'd been gone that long....we all know that you've been super busy.....I'm still jealous that you;re in Germany! LOL on being over the weight limit when you come back. When I was a kid and we moved to Panama on the return my parents paid thru the nose as they too were over the military weight limit! LOL They brought back lots of Panamain furniture.

Glad to see you;ve been scrappin', I am sooo far behind!

If he were about 10 years younger it'd be something he could have done, I think LOL He's a B52 EW (nav wings) We got Minot if I didn't get it in my note last night/this morning. HOw sick can I be to volunteer to return there? LOL I'm off to work on the house this evening. I have about 5-6 weeks before DH returns. I don't have enough time to clean the rubble ... I mean HOUSe... up before he comes home LOL

Hello Susan,

No surprise you found London expensive - it is officially most expensive city in the world now. It has been a close second to Tokyo for many years but has finally overtaken it. I find London very expensive, and I live here...

Did you go to any crafty shops while you were here? I am looking forward to seeing your London layouts.

Klara, I stumbled into (and quickly out of) a stamp store by accident. :D Wandering around our first night trying to get dinner and back to a train station, I found a store, don't remember the name either. Looking at the costs for stamp pads was enough to choke on. Even if it weren't double for the exchange rate, the prices were high. Was nice to see a craft store on economy (in Germany, I've only really ventured to one quilt store and it's always closed! LOL I shop on post at their version of craft store and get most of my fix there)

Now to find out if I get any better choices on our move to Minot :D Yeah... if I didn't mention that, we found out Thrusday night we're headed to North Dakota next July. Talked to friends from there tongiht and now I"m getting excited to move again! :D

My inlaws have a schrank they bought when in Germany and I LOVE it. Think I have convinced them to will it to me! LOL SIL has no desire to have it as it's "old" and not classy! I was stunned, it's a beautiful piece furniture (well all the pieces are)

Yes, I've been busy with the cards anyway. My time has been in small chunks and I can sit down, make a card or two using my scraps, when I have just a few minutes. I have a quilt top ready to be quilted, just have to sandwich it and put it on the machine. Maybe next week??
