OT -- scrapbook refills

I've been 'amusing' myself printing pictures taken by friends and relatives at my son's recent wedding. I put 'amusing' in quotes as it hasn't exactly been a barrel of laughs getting my system and printer to produce relatively decent images.

When AC Moore had a scrapbook sale, I took advantage of it. Now I'm at a loss about the purpose of the strips of cardboard that are in the refill kits.

Are they page separators? Some books have thin strips of cardboard that go in wherever the pages are fastened together so that you don't get the phenomenon where the pages are tight together at the binding and then splay out where you've added additional bulk with photos and such.

Excellent suggestion. There is a thread that's discussing album accessories so I didn't have uncloak ;-) The cardboard things are spacers which I don't need since I'm not doing any 3D pages.
