OT: The Lost Children

Of course that phrase is understood in the UK. All I was saying, if you would ONLY read it correctly, as no-one should feel guilty of they either had enough money themselves not to need to work (unless they wanted to) nor should they feel guilty if their families were wealthy enough and WILLING to maintain them That`s totally different from sponging off people who CAN`T afford it, or even trying to "lay a guilt trip" on someone who, though able to afford it isn`t willing to do so. So much depends on the attitude, and situation of the recipient.

Of course even in that enviable position, many people want to employ themselves doing something, even if not for financial gain. I can`t understand why the thought of anyone being in that position should upset you so much? Is it just envy? I certainly don`t envy anyone who can live in that way. I might wish I was able to do so myself, but I don`t feel angry or envious because I can`t! I`m quite happy being me - I don`t want to be anyone else, however rich or privileged they might be.

Not that it happened during a job interview, but rather at group function. My direct boss out and out asked me if I was pregnant, three times. My only response to him was "I'm not obligated to answer that question." Seems as neutral an answer as anything.

Second boss in my career to do that. The first one stammered a bit when I pointed out that either A) a discriminatory question based on gender and I could take it to HR or B) I could witness him ask the same question to my male counter parts. He opted for B), and never did live it down (as they would weekly report in to him that they were still NOT pregnant).

What do you mean, you're not married? Why not? Don't have any children? Why not?

(Of course, I just found out from the chief dispatcher that his most effective weapon for drivers who don't want to do something is to say that "Darla could do it.")

Yep. Because I haven't figured out what "genecide" is. The killing of chromosomes, perhaps?

Is that something like the ever-popular phrase in our office, what do you mean you can't figure it out, Blondie, "it's so easy an attorney could do it!"

No. Darla's the only woman driver, surrounded by Latino males. It's a direct attack on their manhood.
