Photo Alert!!!

I received a newsletter yesterday from a source not directly associated with needlework but it had a bit of a disturbing message in it.

Apparently on or about June, 21 2007 Yahoo is going to discontinue their photo section. This will mean that those of us that have photos on Yahoo's RCTNP will probably have to upload them to whatever/whoever replace the Yahoo photo section.

This will be a bit of a pain but will give an opportunity for some of us (moi) to clean up our act.

Pity the other users of Yahoo photos - apparently there are over 6 billion photos stored there.

Ahhhh now let's see - all my photos are stored and backed up here somewhere - I think!!!!!

AND YOUR"S ARE ?????????????????

On my Frappr page. I've put a few in Yahoo over the years, but it would take forever to upload a finish to every one of the groups I participate in, so I put them in one spot and send everyone over there.

I don't think it's the groups that are being affected. Yahoo has a separate photo storage area and I believe that's the only one that will be forced to change. Here's their notice:

also says photos will have to be moved to Flickr. Whether there's a charge for that or not I didn't notice but I only skimmed the article and really didn't read it very carefully. Lucille

I was told to use Photobucket.com instead - basically same idea - free photo storage online. Checking it out now....

I've used Webshots.com now for a couple of years. They allow users to view the image in the actual size (termed "full size") instead of the screen size that Yahoo does. Now they even allow video uploads, but it's too slow for my tastes - I prefer youtube for that.
