Pre-planning LNSs.

WE are just starting to plan the summer exodus from Florida (I must add this is only the second year we have evacuated). I HATE the weather, crowds, heat and so forth. Our house is for sale, that shows how serious we are~~

I have made a reservation at Wright Pat AFB for a week. DH can do his thing at the Humongous ham radio event there ( I am also a Ham, but don't gt too enthused.)

Which shops should I go to>> I am 70, need nothing, but want everything!!

That just IS NOT FAIR! We didn't have enough time to go there a couple of years back when we were in the area. My trip last year got canceled because of minor surgery. This year I was determined to go to the Daisy Barrel, and it's "Going Out of Business Sale" is today!!! I guess fate didn't mean for me to go there.... ever.

Thanks anyway, Elizabeth, for the link.

If you happen to be going to Akron by chance -- try Blueberry Hill Stitchery. They have become my favorite LNS. I can give directions if you need them.

After we leave Wright-Pat, we are heading over to eastern Ohio. To a campground 8 miles south of Ashtabula (sp?). It is toward the PA border. We stayed there before in 1994, so I am sure everything will seem new to us after all these years. I believe this is probably quite a distance from Akron, unfortunately. It says that the campground is 60 miles from Cleveland, and IIRC Akron is south of Cleveland.

Thanks for the suggestion, and I shall make sure that I have you LNS in my LNS database for future reference.

It's all in how you get there... ;-) If you travel N on 71 from Columbus you could take I-76 east to N 77. You want exit 132. Bear right twice off the exit and the shop is the 2nd building on the right. After stopping you can run 77 N to 271 and be right back on track. If you run 70 east through Columbus to 77 N there you go -- run that N to the shop and then continue to to 271 around Cleveland. It's all in how badly you want to shop.

Good luck in Ohio -- Denise

If you are coming through Cincinnati, stop at Keepsake Framing and Floral. They are basically the area's only cross-stitch store now, and you would never know it by the name, but their selection takes up the entire first floor of the old house they are located in. They are on Rt. 42, south of the 275 bypass, on the north side of Cincinnati. Definitely worth the stop.

If you are coming by Columbus, you must stop at Cross My Heart, off of Rt. 315. This is by far my favorite LNS (although I haven't been to Blueberry Hill yet that Denise mentions in Akron - it's on my "to go to" list for the summer lol). If you are taking I-70 from Dayton over to pick up I-71, then this is not far out of your way and also very definitely worth the stop.

Email me if you want specific directions to either or both shops. Carolyn

Thanks so much for the info.I am saving it. DH will be driving a big RV, towing a car. (He calls it his 50 ft train). Needless to say, he would not welcome any suggestions from me to stop off at an LNS en route. LOL However, we shall be at Wright-Pat for a week, and only the weekend will be tied up with the Dayton HamFest. After 2-3 days of Radio stuff, he owes me a trip or two to the LNSs. We use the little car for tooling around and sightseeing!

You will be probably an hour from either store from Wright-Patt. Columbus does have another LNS, Paw Prints, on the north side (30 minutes from Cross My Heart, depending on traffic). I see where she has moved, and I have not been to the new store, so I can't comment too much about it. My car just always automatically heads to Cross My Heart lol!
