Pretty Fabric

Just ordered fabric for yet another project that I've had in my stash for a while - The Kiss by Mirabilia. It's done on Apple Blossom linen

- wow, is it every pretty. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm still working on my Shall We Dance (hummingbird and fairy), but that doesn't stop me from indulging in new stuff. :-)

I agree with Donna - let's bombard this group with needlework posts, fun posts, newsy posts - and try to bump out all that crap that's getting on here lately.

I love the rhodes stitch. And rhodes as hearts are so pretty, especially as flowers. I think as "fancy" stitches go they are fairly effortless. You'll be an expert quite quickly with a tiny bit of practice.

Sounds like an interesting travel journey for sure ... I've often wondered if you keep a diary of all your adventures (especially any needlework shops you want to find your way back to) :-))

And Ellice was right. For this stitch a laying tool is a very good idea.

I stitch the Rhodes stitch using overdyed #5 perle cotton (like Watercolors) on perforated plastic for barrettes. Three rows of 9 Rhodes stitches over 5 "threads" is just the right size! Looking at the diagrams I realized that I stitch them backwards (clockwise instead of counterclockwise) which is not surprising since my cross stitch is also backwards (top stitch is / instead of \)

As far as I'm concerned, there is no "backwards" when it comes to stitches. As long as the finished product all in one direction..

When we lived full time on the road, I kept a journal...for the first two or three years anyway. I DO research needlework sshops, and have built a list of all that I find, have heard of etc. This is many pages, and sorted by State and Province. All input is gtarefully received; however when we are on the road I have to access this group through Google, which I HATE~ al emails have to be short, because we never know if there is WiFi or not, and downloading is expensive, so all emails are truncated at around 50kb!
