Quiet Here

I hope the lack of "conversation" means everyone is either outside enjoying some spring time weather or inside stitching.

I think I'm about to have a big block of stitching time as I am to report for jury duty on Tuesday. But first, tomorrow, Ellice and I go back to the demo room at Woodlawn one more time which is always fun for us.

Meanwhile I scored some more used books at a local library sale on Friday. Some Dover books, an Italian book on Assissi and blackwork, a tassel book, and some books on ethnic embroideries. Always willing to add to my stash of knowledge. By the time I got there, at least two other EGA ladies had been able to preshop as Friends of the Library. No telling what treasures they found.

And soon it's time for some more college hockey. UNH vs. #1 ranked BU. I thought the Princeton/U of Minnesota-Duluth was an exciting game when UMD scored with 0.8 seconds left to tie the game. Then I watched my school, UNH, score with 0.3 seconds left to tie the game to knock out North Dakota. Yikes. These games are scream inducing. Maybe Ellice's husband and I will be sitting on opposites side of the rink when/if UNH and Cornell both make the Frozen Four.

Happy Stitching,

I spent the morning doing laundry and organizing my closets. Now I sat down and I'm doing boring backstich on a boring little cross stich that I found in my stash. It's a cheapie little kit, with stiff aida and pretty crummy floss, but it isn't worth looking for anything better for this little throwaway piece.

I'm anxiously awaiting the materials for Amethyst Dreams which I decided to do in your color scheme. I thought it looked most dramatic and exciting in the black.

Now I'm going to see if there's anything worth seeing on TV. It's not been a good day for interesting programming so far.

I managed to get 5 more words done on my "How Great Thou Art" after several months away from it. A little too windy and occasionally rainy to spend any time outside. A brief reminder it's still March.

Ellice told me you were going to do my colorway. Yeah!

It was kind of incidental. I was trying to go blue, but the shop didn't have enough fibers in my color range for me to be certain it was going to work out. So I went dark and found everything I needed except one of the Hi-Lights. What can I say? It was a happy accident.

Normally blue would be my first choice and most of my house is decorated with various shades of blue, but I think the black is much more exciting. My living room is the only room that isn't blue. It is mostly white with lots of black accent pieces and this will be perfect somewhere there.

I've been away from the computer for a couple of days. Went to Bethesda, MD, on Friday to meet friends/family for lunch/dinner. Lovely to get out and explore a new place, but - WOW - there are a lot of restaurants there. Restaurants and jewelery stores...that seemed the whole "downtown" area!

More running around on Saturday - a morning Bible class and benefit lunch for a charity. (I've been doing nothing but sitting and eating! )

I have, however, managed to keep stitching going around these other activities! I'm almost finished crocheting a lovely afghan -- hope to finish the last two squares tonight. And already planning another project, from the Crochet magazine that hits the newsstands later this week: a beautiful baby blanket:

't that beautiful? I'm going to the LNS and yarn store next weekend. On Saturday I charted the words for a name sampler I'm doing. The baby's name is Cynthia, and I took the letters from alphabet zoo that make up the name.

"Y", "N", and "I" are only half-blocks, so under the adjacent Y & N I'm going to backstitch the child's full name and her parents' names, and under the I I'm going to put her birthdate. If I can figure out how to make it work, I'll also put the baptismal date, but I don't think there'll be enough room. So not quite happy dancing yet, but the band's tuning up....
