I have friends who live in one - and have for years - at Pebble Beach
- mostly because otherwise they have gawkers at golf time. I thought it was rather nice and a sane way to handle things.
I have moved to a condo but really in many ways we are a gated community, with an accent on the community part. Although there are
90 apartments it's surprising how you get to know many of the residents, at parties given in the party room, or there is a Tuesday night card game and quite a few activities in the party room designed especially for some of the old ones who can't get out too easily.I often think of that song "And they all live in little boxes" but sometimes that works quite well for one. We are destined to have another blizzard later today and likely some will gather in the lobby on all the comfy chairs there - where we keep bookcases full of take one, leave one, books and magazines and I will take some wine and glasses down and we will get a 'kitchen' party going. Hasten to add, those people will consist of all age groups, we have young, single professionals right up to those who are far older than me, it's all quite interesting and we don't even have to step outside into the snow!
