Stainless Steel Pins

Hi All,

Where do you find stainless steel pins for mounting cross-stitch to foam core? I've been looking on the web, but haven't had any luck. Thanks John

Thanks for the web address' Bobbie. I must be doing something wrong because when I go to the sites I cann't find the stainless steel pins. I can only find regular plated pins or "steel" pins. What am I doing that I cann't find stainless? John

Thank you that helps a lot. I'm still not used to small town life, being a city boy I'm used to going to a store and getting anything I want. Now living in a small town its hard to get anything that you cann't find in Walmart. The only local source for Orvis is the feed store and the quantity it comes in is huge. What else do people use to clean their finished stitching? John

We have had this sort of discussion many times. Generally speaking, if you use top quality materials, e.g. DMC or Anchor, the stitching is as tough as old boots, and nothing you use to clean it will have any adverse effect. This includes harsh detergents, bleaches etc. Orvus and other "gentle" cleansers are wonderful for things that are delicate. Personally I hand wash my finished pieces in hot water and Tide, being careful to rinse very thoroughly. HTH.

Thanks to you all. The pins are ordered and I will buy the baby shampoo or orvis today. This project may be finished yet, it' only been three years. I've already have a frame and mat that I'm reusing from a gift. I've even taken the first stitches on the Pegasus on 36 count enchanted night. This will be my first even linen project. I hope my speed picks up or this will be another multi year project. John
