A colleague and friend of mine uses many of my Thread remnants to stichj over her Wall Works ,,, it is delightful for me to see ends of threads i knitted , or lef over cloth and lace [ like in shoe laces ] being stitched unto and over her works ,,,, mirjam
Speaking of stitching with anything, reminds me of what I have done on some of my "old" samplers. I've used aged linen tablecloths, tea towels, curtains, even textiles normally used to make clothing. Especially any other raggedy remants picked up at flea markets. I used to search for only even weave, but one of my most interesting samplers was done on an uneven weave table cloth that already had some stitching on it in one corner. I stitched over 2 and up 3 to get a square cross. Naturally, used, well-worn fabrics are stained and aged in a way I could never artificially reproduce, though sometimes I "help" it along.
Also, I use snips of my tiny left over threads - 1-3" long to incorporate into home made paper. Colorful fibers add interest!
