Stitcher's World gone?

x-no-archive:yes

I saw your post the other day and went and eliminated anything prior to 2005 - so there should be more than enough room now for Allie to put her picture up.

That's great Sheena...it's nice being able to see pictures of people's work...inspiring too!

Alas, I have no way to scan either the original magazine picture (which had a pretty big stitching error in it) or my work, since I do not have a scanner. I am assuming that is how you all get pictures of your work online and not taking pictures with a camera. My husband and I have been considering getting a scanner and maybe this will give us the push we need. I find other people's pictures of their work immensely helpful.

We are considering the one by HP which sits in a stand and you can lift the glass off and put it on what you want to scan or you can leave it on the stand and sandwich paper between the stand and the glass to scan documents. Any ideas on whether this is a good one or not?

Digital cameras are better, IMHO, than scanners for getting pictures into a digital form, and into a computer. They are also much more useful than scanners, since you can use them as a normal camera. It is easy to take literally hundreds of pictures, and keep a very few you like. Basically the only cost is batteries, once you have paid the cost of the camera, and storage discs. You can always qet quality prints of any pictures you particularly like. HTH.

I have the HP printer/scanner/copier, which cost us here in SA about $100. Wouldn't swap it for anything except another one. :-) It's made my old scanner obsolete except for scanning film.

I agree with Jim as I know I seldom use my scanner anymore to produce pictures since getting a digital camera. Scanners still have their use, but at least for me, producing pictures of my work isn't one of them. I really don't know anything about the newer scanners so I can't comment on the one you mentioned.

The main thing to post a picture on the net is it needs to be in a proper format such as a jpg. file. You can do this with a scanner, a digital camera or a camera using film if when you have it developed you have the pictures put on a CD. I'm not a very technical person so I'm sure others could explain this better! :) Anyway I'd love to see a picture of your work which ever way you do it!

I have both a new HP scanner/copier/printer (cost $100) and a digital camera and I prefer the camera for getting pictures of my work onto the computer. Even if you do not have a program such as PhotoShop you can do basic editing and save your pictures as jpg files with little trouble with the software that comes with the camera. The scanner is most often used to allow me to save documents - and the copy function is great for the kids and their school projects! I am a longtime HP printer customer and they are workhorses...IMHO.

Certainly looks good - and I`ve always been delighted with the results from HP scanners - had them for many years. Absolutely problem free.

Make sure you get a rechargeable battery for the camera though. When I first had mine I used ordinary batteries and found it just GOBBLED them!!!

I can`t say that I agree that cameras are better than scanners though, unless the item to scan is more than A4 size. I suppose this depends very much on the scanner, though.
