Thanks, Karen! for UFO nudge

Thanks for the little push on making it a UFO weekend. While not officially a UFO, my mermaid project has been languishing. I'm in the "eating your peas" part of the project - the over-1 alphabet on 35-ct linen that is SO much easier in the sunshine, and I usually don't get stitching time til night. I won't let myself have the "dessert" of the final mermaid motif until I finish the alphabet and another over-one verse, and somehow the more fun to do projects keep creeping ahead.

Here's the photo (again...still....y'alll have seen this before):

've mostly finished all the top 2/3 - down to the words "coraggio" and "pax". Up to letter Y in the first alphabet (second row, way left) and the second half of the second line of the verse and the border is 80% complete all the way around (Doesn't show in frame in this photo). So this afternoon I just made it a priority to sit outside in the sun with a cuppa and a book on my headphones and do some stitching. I finished a big letter, a couple of small letters, and am feeling more energized about this project. Hope to do another letter or two tomorrow in the sunshine.

Thanks, Karen!

Tonight and tomorrow night I hope to finish the beading on another project. I've made two standups from "M Designs" personalized Christmas ornaments (memorial gift for a friend who's recently lost both her parents - trees with her parents' names). I made cording to put around it, then left the ends dangling into a sort-of (but not quite!) tassel. I think there are 16-twisted layers of floss - six strands - two ends of the cord, so that's 32X6 threads. I'm stitching a green seed bead on the end of each strand, cutting them to varying lengths. It would look a little sketchy if it were a hanging ornament, but good when it's a standup and it kind of fills and spills the opening, if you can imagine what I'm trying to describe! I'll get DD over here with her camera before I send them to my friend and will post a photo at that time. (A picture is worth a thousand works, right?) It's like the 4th and 5th photos on this page, except I'm unravelling the cording and stitching on beads:

I've been eating peas all day, too. :( I'm working on the cascade of froth on Mermaid of the Pearls and geez-Louise, it goes on forever. Worked on it all day and still not even half done with it.

Well, I hadn't...and it looks really neat! Not something I would do personally, but you've got my respect for it all the same, Susan.

I'm just doing a small scissors case, but it's a UFO and I worked on it this weekend and got the front side done. Now I just have to repeat the pattern for the back side of the case. I'm not really sure how to do the finishing for the case, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
