Tut & Nefertiti photos at Webshots

Hi Guys, Well, I have FINALLY finished the King Tut that I will give DD for Christmas. I have uploaded a photo of it and the companion Nefertiti to my Webshots Needlework album. The two are from a Janlynn kit -- #13-245 I think. Of course, I doubt if the kit is still available since I bought it more than ten years ago -- LOL! I did the Nefertiti in 1998 & gave her to DD for Christmas that year. I got the piece back from DD so that I could frame it -- she doesn't know that I have stitched the King Tut so he will be a big surprise. I added a LOT of Kreinik to both pieces so they are sparkly :-). I also made a new album for the photos I took while in the Czech Republic in April. There aren't a lot of photos so it's a quick look. I especially like the photo of the pub that has soil & grass on the roof!! Also have a photo of the local McDonald's! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Thank you for the lovely words, Sharon :-). The landscaping is much more work than I like! The new backyard was never planted with anything but weeds and there are some VERY persistent berry vines that must run really deep! I keep having to pull little shoots of berry vine all over that yard -- LOLOL! As for the King Tut, I had to tell DD NOT to look at the Needlework album. She doesn't know I have stitched the piece and I want to surprise her with it. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Those are a gorgeous pair, Mary. I know you've been working a long time. Are those beads I see sparkling on the neck and head piece? Deb :-)

Thanks bunches Deb. There are no beads on either piece. The sparkle is all Kreinik blending filament on both Tut & Nefertiti. You'd be surprised at how many different shades of gold blending filament Kreinik makes -- LOLOL! I stitched using 1 strand of the cotton floss and 2 strands of a matching (as close as possible) blending filament. I think the fabric is supposed to resemble parchment because it has sort of an oatmeal look to it. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

Just gorgeous, TM! I hope your DD *doesn't* look at your album cuz she's in for a wonderful surprise!

BTW, I made a comment on one of your pics from Disney World

Joan, rd&h!

I can guarantee that DD will NOT look at the Needlework album. One Christmas (she was about 12, I think) she was being REALLY horrid and I threatened to show her all of her gifts if she didn't straighten up. She kept being horrible so I took her into the guest bedroom where I had about half of her gifts laid out on the bed. I showed them to her and asked her if being disobedient was worth the price. From then on, she was always a pretty decent kid -- holidays or not. All I had to do was threaten that when the holidays got near, I would start showing her the gifts we had gotten! I'm mean, I know, but it was the ONLY thing that worked!!! She has now learned that the surprise of opening her gifts is one of her most personal favorites at the holidays. Now that she is grown, with a family of her own, DH and I don't get her very many personal gifts. I have told her that the needlework will be her "important" personal gift so she won't go anywhere near that album :-)! As for the comment 8-P***** LOLOL! I do have the chart in my stash and WILL stitch it one of these days. OH -- and we went to the ORIGINAL and BESTEST EVER theme Park -- DisneyLAND not that humid, overdone, yuppiefied World place (rd&h myself). CiaoMeow >^;;^<

DH told me once that he and his brothers were experts at opening presents and resealing them. I thought, boy, would *that* take the fun out of Christmas!!!

Well, now you have the perfect medium for it! Especially since you're the Queen of Waste Canvas. :)

n.b. For those who haven't seen it, TM is wearing a t-shirt that says "Fairy Grandmother" on the front and I suggested she stitch MLI's FG on the back.

Well, I wasn't sure and thought maybe it was D'world since you're closer to that one. I haven't been to either in about 20 years (yikes!) so I'm sure they've changed considerably since then.

Looks like you had lots of fun, too.

Joan

I always knew where my parents hid gifts, and one year I decided to take a peek. It was SO disappointing! I never did that again!

Oh, and I wanted to add to the chorus of, "they look great" for Tut & Nefertiti. :)

Allura

I know DS went nuts one year looking for presents. He found DD's but not his. Her I could trust not to go looking in the basement. I hid his in plain sight, in it's shipping carton. He just figured it was another storage box....

LOLOL! The benefits of lousy housekeeping!

I don't think my kids (or DH) ever found my hiding place....inside our luggage!
