Venting

Well, it's half DH's vent too. Due to weather and other things, his flights home were delayed. I was supposed to pick him up at 10 PM. (yesterday)

I set the alarm on my PDA to wake me up so I could be there for his 1 AM arrival - it's now 1:37 AM arrival.

He can sleep tomorrow - I still have to get up at the "usual" hour of 5:45 AM to get DS off to school. And I have errands I must do tomorrow (make that today) and to get DS at the HS to get him to hockey.....

And replying to myself! I finally got back to sleep around 3, and am back up. DS has decided that he's going to punt on hockey today. I am grateful.

DH did bring me back some lovely earrings.

Being thankful for small favors, eh? I hear ya!

Those 5:30 a.m. alarm clocks do plain old suck, thank goodness tomorrow is Saturday and I can sleep in until the ripe old hour of 7!

Ah, the wonders of travel. My worst was 3 weeks in a row, the same identical flight from Boston to BWI - Due in normally at 8:30 PM - Arrived at 5:am (storm delay, stuck in shut down Logan with nothing but a venidng machin), 4:30 am - the BWI tower struck by lightning - this time the gate crew brought out airline snacks and were very proud of themselves - and finally - 2:47 am - again, at least we got nuts. And my boss insisted I get to some meeting after the 5 am arrival. The other 2 days (Friday) I slept in a bit.

Face it - you're doomed. Start making nap-time for yourself in the middle of the day! I'm now finally understanding why when I came home from school, or when she got home from work - my mom would have a little lie down from

5:30-6:30. It helped that I cooked, and also, in Florida (if you're not doing the early birds) a lot of families eat dinner late (too much to do outdoors). Even now - I've grown up always having dinner around 7:30 - so that let the pre-dinner nap happen for mom - with DH - if he gets a nap, I have to be sure to get him up soon or he's out for the count.

Poor guy - last night - I had my Project Runway class - and he had hockey at

10:15 start time - in MD. And I didn't go watch - imagine - plus they were a little short (just 10 guys). He got home at about 1:15, I'd been home since 10:30 - and he actually got up when I woke him at 6:45. Bet he crashes hard tonight! But, he now eats a quick PB&J, then "power naps" on hockey nights - which I'm guessing he did (as I was long gone when he got home).

LOL - I'm resisting saying anything about talking to ones' self (as it seems to run rampant here - or at least I talk to Puckster). The crazy DSIL - we catch her all the time having conversations with herself (behind a closed door, of course). Glad that your wise goalie son had decided to punt (it's ok in the pre-season to do that occasionally)

Ah, jewelry - the salve for almost everything..... Good man.

DS has a hidden motive - his (potential) new skates are in and he wants to find out what Dad brought home for him. DD got up ran and hugged Daddy and get ready for school.

I'll get up around 6:30 tomorrow - her ice time is 8:30, but it is picture day and team mom has work to do.

When DH was traveling a lot, I'd drop him off Monday for the 6:30 AM flight and go to work. I got to know the staff near the "usual" gate, for Friday pick as it was always late. He had to drive a few times as I got "talked" into a beer or two and I'd be too silly to drive.

I need to find an outside the house job with $$$ instead of smiles for pay.

I got home from practice, tucked DD in, watched most of Calendar Girls, woke up and checked flight status a few time and finally let to get him around

1:15 AM. Got home around 2:30 - his baggage was among the last out..

Tell Jon to try those oat bran wraps with his PB&J's. YUMMY

I can appreciate that. My first "real job" I traveled for 2-3 days one week, then just a day trip the alternate week - steadily from about Sept to May. Then, that summer - we decided that my QA guy, myself, and with various others appearing - had to be in the plant all the time that our prototypes were being worked on. Which meant the 6:00 am flight from BWI to Logan on Monday morning, and returning on the Friday 5:30 PM flight. Every week - for about 12 weeks. Although, at times, one of us would come back on Thursday. Let's just say that year I racked up an enormous amount of mileage - and it was before Piedmont was bought by USAir - the joke being I could fly back and forth to Charlotte for the rest of my life for free. And we knew the couple of flight crews, and the gate crews very, very well. When I switched jobs, then it was flying to Albuqueque - at least every other week - with the occasional 1.5 day trip thrown in the 'tween weeks. My insane, mean, moron, boss thought it was fine for me to do a "Day trip" to Albuquerque - can you say insane. Though it did happen a few times.

Ah, I know this feeling. At least you're getting the smiles. And I don't want to think about all this job stuff - it's starting to stress me out - but I am looking. I have some interesting offers - the thing is for real pay then I have to do a "work with the mean people" again kind of job. So, we'll see.

Hey - we watched Calendar Girls, too - while I was waiting for DH to get home and reading the new THREADS.

LOL - he'll say he doesn't need anymore fiber - I've got him hooked on the Kashi TLC trail bars. Yum.

Hey I only had 3 more hours sleep! Besides, sometimes, I am the ONLY ONE WHO LISTENS (excepting you guys).

And he got his new gloves today from Dad. They've been in the basement for a week. TPS Summit full right catcher and blocker.

Nearly - these are quite elegant; inlaid stones - mostly blues with a little green and red. (Not getting technical - no clue what they might be for sure)

Because it's for those who deserve the very best, let's just assume they're sapphires, emeralds and rubies. Does that sound good to you ???
