Sorry I have been lurking again, and a little OT venting

To anyone that had a bday : Hope you had a scrap happy bday.

Prayers are always being said for everyone on the group.

Now to the reason. Life has been so busy. I know that you all understand that. I have my full time job at the office, overtime job of mom and wife. and now I have returned to college.

Now the juicy stuff. My oldest son has finally got on the football team. Well, aparently there was some kid that was making fun of him at practice the other day. During their drink break DS went up to him and told him that he needed to mind his business, and to be quiet. Well the kid decided that he just did not like that so he took his helmet and wapped DS in the face. The kid broke his nose. The kids parents said that DS probably deserved it, and the city has done nothing. So I decided to press charges on a 10 year old little boy. If the parents would have done something to correct the boy, or if the city would have taken him off the team I would not have pressed charges, but this little boy needs to know that he can not go off and just beat somebody for no reason.

Sorry I just had to vent. I know that is what you all are here for every now and again.

Wow!! Your poor son. I'm sure the little guy is in pay. I can't believe a

10 year old did that. When I was reading your story, I thought maybe high school age. Sounds like the parents are too smart. No wonder the kids a brute. I hope something good comes of this for you. Good luck.

oh man... I hope they teach that kid a lesson.. don't forget to sue the parents for medical bills and pain and suffering.. maybe they will learn to parent after that. We can only hope. That kid is lucky your kid didn't beat the crud out of him! Wow. So sorry you are dealing with this.

I am sorry to hear that. How can a child grow up to be a good person if he never learns that actions have consequences? I agree that you should also sue the parents for medical bills and so forth, even if it is in small claims court.

Good luck with this and please tell your son that I hope he feels better soon!

I wonder sometimes what the heck is wrong with some parents these days. When I see a kid at school, who's misbehaving in a big way ... daily (not usual kids stuff) when I see the parent I see that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. What kid deserves to have their nose broken?! Geeze. I'm sorry you had to bring the law into it, but it sounds like you had to take that route to get your point across.... breaking noses is unacceptable!

I agree that something needs to be done. Both the parents and the coach should have punished him. This sort of thing scares me because it could have got out of hand. I don't remember the exact story but in California a boy was killed by another boy that hit him with a baseball bat after a baseball game. I remember there was some teasing going on before it happened. There were people standing around watching but no one did anything. So yeah kids will be kids but sometimes it can go to far.

Oh dear what a mess! I sure feel for you, my oldest DS was picked on in school at about that age, I finally had to press charges to get it to stop. You should take pictures of you DS face if you haven't already done so as the judge will want to see them. Be sure you take the parents to small claims for reimbursement of medical expenses as well as pain and suffering, that's providing the judge that hears the charges doesn't make them pay up. Good luck,

Oh goodness... Hope your DS gets better soon and the little boy learns a lesson.

Sorry to hear about that Mel! It sounds like you HAVE to sue them. I hate parents that will not take responsibility for their kids or even themselves. Hope your son is better!

OH my! I am so sorry to hear this news! What a bad thing to happen to him on his first time playing football! I know kids can be rough but that is going too far. My youngest boy is 9 and he is in his third year of football, and I have never heard of another kid doing that to another team member. I believe our football organization has some sort of policy regarding unnecessary violence, and I think the players involved get suspended. Does your group have any "house rules" that they go by? I'm glad you are doing something about it, and good luck!! I hope he feels better soon. (Tell him he can kind of get even on the practice field doing some tough blocking...thats legal!) Linda C

My goodness! How awful for your DS to have to go through that his first year of football. I agree you needed to press charges. So many parents tend to do so little when it comes to their kid's violent behavior. Sure, kids will be kids, but a broken nose is going too far!

Mel, I am so sorry to hear about your DS. HOpe he is okay. What is wrong with people today. What gives that boy the right to hit your son! Crazy! I hope you are able to teach the boy a lesson. Maybe after being sue the parents will learn they need to disciplne their child.

Mel I'm so sorry to hear about your son. It is too bad that you had to sue to get some resolution of the situation. Hopefully the parents will take control of their son after this.

I am sorry to hear about your son,Mel. I think those kind of things cannot be ignored. Obviously his parents have a bad attitude about it. So many kids and young adults today do not take the consequences of their actions seriously and this is a lesson that should be learned early and through family. If parents won't take responsibility, then the child has to learn the lesson from society. Hope everything works out.

Brain cells come and brain cells go.... but fat cells go on forever

oh geez..thats terrible about your son. My son is going through the same situation.. He came home from school 2 weeks ago with a broken finger. It was blue! I took him to the ER.. and to a surgeon. He's doing ok and its healing. He is 9 years old. The kid who hit him.. is also 9 years old. They were IN class..the kid called my son names.. my son didn't respond so he threw something at him. When my son still did not respond he attacked him. We did file a police report and the child was suspended. This happened IN CLASS in front of the teacher and all the other students. 4th graders! Other than probation not much will happen to this little bully. I hope your son recovers quickly. and the bully learns a lesson.
