VOT; Spring may be here

A total change of subject...for the first time today, I have not been chilly ( of course, I wear shorts and sandals). Never before have I felt the cold. DH was getting antsy, so we went to the box stores looking at plants. It looks as if we have had the last killing frost...although Jim says there have been ice crystals on the rails on the deck , My external temp said 33, so he is probably right.

Tomorrow we star the new Earth boxes ( cost the earth and should be worth it). Also have pepper plants to put in where the rose bed was.

I was amazed at the high cost of plants. Probably twice last year's expense. On the other hand good tomatoes here in Florida are darn near $4 a pound, and we are the prime region for producing them. This has been a hell of a winter.

On a side note, for the fun of it, I bought 4 Brussels sprout plants late October. They did...well, interestingly; we had our third meal of little sprouts tonight. The plants ere out for the yard people to pick up.

The end of my not very good gardening stuff

Beans and squash started indoors a week ago are showing initial leaves.

Life is good.;

It is definitely on the way to spring--several huge blocks of frozen black ice fell out of my wheel wells this week. Dawne

It was glorious yesterday but I heard that dirty little word 'flurries' on the radio this a.m.

It's been glorious in the 'Burgh too, only here I heard the word rain and something about maybe in the 60s by the end of the week. The last thing we need with all the snow still in the mountains and in WVA is a thaw with rain. Hopefully it will be very light.

I did see some daffodills sticking their heads out of the ground along the steps where the snow has melted. OTOH there still is the 4 ft pile on the wall on one side of the driveway.

Spring has come to one side of the street. Yesterday was in the low 60s

- gorgeous, sunny day - and I took a long walk. Noticed on the east-west running streets that the front yards of the south-facing houses were almost completed melted of snow and showed deep green and brown hues; the houses on the north-facing side, like mirror images, were still almost completely snow covered. Wish I'd had a camera along!

Same here. It was 47 f when I got up this morning and felt hot in this poorly insulated house.

This has been a peculiar winter. It was actually colder here in Florida yesterday then it was in New York.

LOL! Here, too! It's been in the 30s the last couple of days, even with cloud cover, and that's what is expected the rest of the week. We actually had a couple patches of lawn show up yesterday! WooHoo! Since we leave for Reno tomorrow morning, we're hoping that all the snow on the driveway will have melted and the driveway will be nice and dry when we get back on Sat.

Here's fervent wishing for a nice, slooooooooooooooooow melt, to prevent major flooding.
