I'm right-handed, but left-eyed, so tracing doesn't work for me because I'm not seeing what I'm doing. I have ZERO artistic talent, so I could pick a rose pattern and the tracing would look like a daisy.

I did have to trace something for an EGA class and got marked down on my grade because my tracing was so abominable that the finished product (even after several attempts) was nothing like the original.

Karen,

Have you seen the beautiful 'needlepainting' patterns from www.berlinembroid= ery.com ? Gorgeous, and the next evolution of crewel, I think. I am going to try a beginners kit and see how it goes.

Just contributing my mite to increasing the needlework related posting.... lol Dee

Tonja's patterns are pre-printed on the fabric. At least the ones I'm familiar with. My daughter just bought one of her kits and it is wonderfully packaged, and the design was done twice in case you messed it up the first time.

Oh wow.... they are all gorgeous!! Sheena has the most wonderful goldwork that I have actually seen in soneone's home. I should love to have the skill, talent, or maybe also "guts" to try some of these things!!

Did you absolutely, positively have to show me that. They are not just calling to me, they are screaming for attention.

Do you know if either of the two U.S. places she mentions have a website and whether the prices listed are in South African money?

Thanks much. I really don't need to add to my stash right now and I can certainly wait till they get the website up and running. I'm going to put the site on my favorites list for future reference.

The prices are in SA rands, which makes them very inexpensive for overseas orders, especially at the current rate of exchange. Postage will probably double the price, as it is quite expensive - to us, anyway.

Joyce in RSA.

Thanks for the answer. That helps me to decide if I absolutely have to have anything right now.

No idea. The prices on her website are South African Rands. But, I did send a link to the boss - we're going to take a look. Seems the US shops are the one in Oregon, and one in Salem, MA. You could just call the shop and ask what they have, etc.

They are really nice designs.

Keep us posted, would you please, Ellice? There's one on there that I

*really, REALLY* like, the blue & lilac butterfly. Not crazy about crewel but I will do a design that really calls to me and this is one that certainly does. In a Very Loud Voice!!!!

Are they ever! Some of the nicest crewel designs I've ever seen!

Thanks for posting that link, Elizabeth. I think! :)

I could go get them and mail them, but I'm sure Fidelis will take good care of Lucille if she calls her. She's great.

Thanks. When I decide what I want, I will call the store. It's not an easy task. I like a lot of the patterns, especially the animals.
