Wedding Sampler Quandry

I like that Idea Carolyn since you never know how the person will choose to decorate. I think that the worst thing in the world to happen would be to a gift like this put in a closet due to the fact that the frame did not go with the new carpet, sofa, husband, dog..... you get the idea. On the topic of the Dear Mother in Law, if you are not really sure how to best handle the issue with her, IMHO... cop out. Go to the Dear Hubbie and chat with him, explain that you would love to do this for his mother as a gift, but you have not gotten a yea or a nay on the idea, and you are just kinda flapping in the wind. In light of everything else that is going on, if she is still interested in having the piece done, one if two ideas. 1) Have somebody do up a nice announcement that the piece has been selected as a gift for them and is being hand crafted with loving care, or. 2) Since I know of a few wonderful ladies who have done wedding samplers only to have them for not due to divorce, suggest that due to the time that the piece be done as an anniversary gift. Say a benchmark for surviving the first year?

Have a good one,

Rusty... who agrees, the piece is not right unless it has some cat hair in it.

Frankly,

Anybody that understands the time and effort that goes into a piece like this would be thrilled with piece itself as a gift given tied in a ribbon. Anybody that would complain about it not being framed may not have been worth the time.

On the topic of framing and such, if the cost is the key thing, how would it look as a bellpull? Just a crazy thought.

I'm probably too late with my response but ---

and I'm not going to read any other replies, but give my frank opinion. Just approach her and say that the price does not include the framing either -- this shud get you off the hook.

I have done baby samplers and I can attest to the fact that no one has any idea of the time and expense, unless they are needle prone too.
