What have you lost lately?

That's heartbreaking. If it was a moving company, any chance of calling them (even if it's a few months ago) and asking if they found an extra box of stitching that "might not have been properly address, but was probably labeled something like Stitching or Gold Work"? I realize it's a long shot, and it would probably gall me to have to ask nice and play trusting, but if they opened it and didn't find what they expected, maybe someone shoved it out back? Of course, even if you think it wasn't accidental, you'll have your stuff back, so who cares? Just a thought....

That would be a good idea, although it's probably too late now. They were signed and dated.

I think I have lost my faith in people, especially the people I work with. In the 8 months I've been at my current job my 'role' has been eroded more and more to the point where I feel totally disrepected and irrelevant. As I am the one who works part time meetings are held in my absence and decisions made with no participation from me. I am approx 30 years older than my co-workers and in general have more skill in my little finger than they have between them. Sigh........roll on retirement.

Try and find a positive side - such as - if something goes wrong, it will have been their fault as you were not included in the decision. If nothing goes wrong, at least you can coast to retirement !

When you retire, forget you're a lady. On the way out the door, flip 'em the bird.

I'm right with you there. I'm not sure my skill level for this job is as far advanced as yours, but as 'lead' one would think that better guidance would have been provided than was in the last 2 years, and that one would at least be advised when staff is going to be on vacation, before the actual discovery of a missing person upon arriving at work. Of course, now that our whole operation will be leaving the US for India in a few month (day shift shuts down June 30, night shift before end of 2009), I don't suppose it's worth kicking about. Didn't bother to really comment on negative remarks in recent job review: we aren't getting raises this year, anyway, and we won't be there next year for it to matter. Outside HR people will probably not be privy to those comments, and they're easily explained as a way to support no future raises in case we are still around in 2010. Tough times we are in these days, and I'm not close enough to retirement.

There isn't enough ThermaCare in the world for the aches I have today. I've finally started clearing up the big branches from the ice storm. Most of which needed to be sawed to make dragging them into the woods feasible.

And I have to spread the lime before the rains this afternoon. And maybe finish more clean up....
