can't find it!

I have looked everywhere and I cannot find my 6" X 24" ruler. I've cleaned my sewing room. I've looked under couch's. I re-emptied garbage cans. It's no where. It's not behind 235 things in my home. It's not under 2994 things in my home. It is not allowed to go outside so I'm not even going to look there. It's not even under the stove or frig.

Where did it go? I want it and I need it RIGHT NOW! Buying a new one means a long trip from the yahoo land where I live. Besides having to have a coupon. And i'm on a very strict diet when it comes to spending.

Just plain crazy how much that ruler meant to me.

Is it tucked in a stack of fabric? The last fabric you remember cutting with it?

Has it fallen behind a piece of furniture? Has somebody else borrowed it "because I needed a long straight edge".......?

Leave a treat for the house elves and I'll bet they bring it back. I leave them cookies and milk or cake and Pepsi. When I come back whatever I've been looking for is right where I left it!

It helps me to try to think of what I was doing the last time I used something that's gone missing. As Ms.P. mentioned, check amongst your fabrics - also check where you were using the ruler. The 6x24 is one of my favs too - and it's big enough that it shouldn't stay hidden for long. ME-Judy

It must be hiding with the fabric panel that I was searching in vain for last night!

Allison (when in doubt - blame it on the cats!)

When you finally find it, it will likely be hiding with my Passport! If so, send that durned thing back home to me, OK? My diamond earrings and the gold hoops I bought on the cruise last October are with the Passport so that should help you find the ruler!!!! CiaoMeow >^;;^<

...and if it's not with her passport...try with my good gold bracelet. Haven't been able to find that in Years!

Yep, I've looked on top of and between....and even Christmas stuff. I went thru my fabrics (why I gave away couple boxes of scraps). Went thru everything. I even looked under my cutting mat and under the cutting mat that's under the cutting mat.

I'll look for your pass port, Tia, as I'm sure I'll find that before my ruler! and yes, Amy, gold bracelet....thanks, that will make the hunt worth at least one more time. My neighbors wouldn't have it as they're mostly men and so I'm the one who usually borrows stuff from them.

Treats for the elves....hmmmmm.. I'd try that but I know they'd end up somehow by my bed and I'd just eat them.

I have so much going on right now in my life that this truly is nothing more then peanuts. But I still want it cuz I use it...alot! And it's mine!

Oh, well. I need a new one so maybe a trip is called for.

Around here it isn't the cats, it isn't the good dog either. My sweet, ray of sunshine pooch Ginger is an out and out thief. She really doesn't destroy anything but she likes to steal and stash stuff by her bed. She is really lucky she is otherwise such a sweetie. Taria

By the phone, front door, kettle, bathroom - ie somewhere unrelated to quilting where you would have to put it down?

First, go to the closet that you had to get that thing out of because it was desperately needed while you were right in the middle of cutting. Look on top of the shelves, totes, and boxes where the tops are just above comfortable eye level. If the place you found your rotary cutter in was a shoe in a closet, that would be the right closet. Also check against the mirror on the dresser, and under the dresser scarf. If somebody borrowed it and cracked it or something, it is probably under the turkey platter or great-great-gramma's heirloom bread plate. Don't forget to look in the box of rags with the car stuff, and in the box of magazines DH promised to throw away twenty years ago.

If it is not in any of those places, or behind the bag of salt for the water softener, put a saucer of beer out on the back stoop for the brownies, and tie a dish towel around the leg of the kitchen table. They will put it someplace you have already looked. It's like a rule or something.

Or the border fabric I swear I bought for a quilt that is long since finished. 4 yds just walked away. I'm sure they are with your ruler.
