Hi all - Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa!
I actually used some self-discipline and did not participate in the group for about a week, so that I could use that time to finish knitting gifts (I was partially successful). Now, I'm catching up, reading the posts I missed, and realize how much I miss the group, everyone's caring for each other, and the vast and incredible amount of knowledge!! I suspect if most of the people in the world practiced as caring an attitude toward their fellow humans as do the people in this ng, that we would not have half the problems we deal with now...
Whoo, whoo! I finished the scarf for my step grandson, (78 inches long!!) my son's sweatshirt sweater (the authors of the "weekend knitting projects" lied - I knit pretty fast, used chunky and large needles and it was no weekend project for me), and my step granddaughter's fleece blanket. My future DIL's shrug is still in the making, but I finished her scarf - I think she liked it. I showed her the shrug (3/4 done) and she likes it - I'm pretty sure - I didn't, however, give her a lie detector test
UFO's - I dragged out a project that is at least 15 years old today - a blanket knit on the diagonal. I finished the body (I think it's about 44 inches square) and I had knit a garter stitch border on two separate sides, as per the instructions (which I cannot find, now). The border on each side was to be knit separately, mitering the corners and joining them at the end. I didn't know how to properly pick up and knit when I did it, and the edges pulled in too much. I just unravelled the borders today, and mistakenly unravelled part of the blanket. Now, I'm trying to remember the pattern, size needle, etc. But I WILL COMPLETE THIS PROJECT IN 2006!!
