THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You have no idea how scared I was getting!!! I Posted SO MANY times and NOTHING appeared not even once. !!? I had been trying to give updates on what all has been going on over here but to no avail. It is good to see you back Katherine!! I do enjoy reading your posts. I haven't been able to post much with all that is going on here. I am finally almost caught up with them all. I thought I had better be reasonably caught up before I posted, then all this had been going on all week with the computer or the newsgroup or the server I don't know which. It is beyond me! Thank you again! Fairwinner

THANK YOU to YOU TOO,Nora!! I was becoming a nervous wreck! I had all these posts I had put out and none had appeared and it just didn't and still doesn't make any sense. It probably never will. I saw that Gemini went through similar stuff the same time I was. She managed to live through it somehow!! I have been completely throught the wringer over here this last month and it is finally settling down I hope. I hope that all is well with you too by the way. Some of the good news I had posted and no one saw was I WON at the fair! I only managed to enter 2 things because of my health and I got 1st for each. I am still thrilled to pieces. I will post more later now that I know I CAN be seen! Thanks again! Fairwinner

LOL I can totally understand your frustration at thinking that no one could see you. That happens to me sometimes, and then a bunch of my posts will all show up at the same time. Go figure! I see that you won at the fair. Congratulations! What did you enter?

Hello again! I entered a doily for Christmas in a pinapple pattern done in red thread crochet. It was about a foot in size when complete. The other was an afghan I had started when I had the disk removed in my back. It is a Mile-A-Minute Pattern with Red heart yarn in a varigated called Watercolor. It is in shades of green, purple, blue and yellow. The solid on it I chose was a baby blue. I made it queen size instead of a lapghan size it called for. I figured If I was going to put that much time into something I want it full size for my bed!! As much pain as I was in at the time I started it; If I had made it lapghan size, it would have been done in about a day! I needed something to make also that would keep me busy because I knew I could not move much for quite some time. So it kept me busy and was well worth it. I had been making a tablecloth I was going to enter also (that was on previous posts in June) but I didn't get it done in time. I will enter it next year. The pattern for that is a PITA, but at least there is a good picture of it on the cover to go by. The pattern is messed up and as I am making it, I am noticing, that it is shrinking pretty good already. It is 100% cotton. It is Aunt Lydia's. I think I will have to add a whole 'nother section to make up for the shrinkage and future shrinkage. That's what I'm a thinkin'. Did you enter anything at your local fair? I HAVE to ask!! Fairwinner

Sounds impressive.

Unfortunately, we don't have a local fair. I love going to them, though, and looking at everything. THis year, we missed the Valley Ex (in Nova Scotia) by about three days. That was disappointing.

Hello Rusty! I am so glad I can be seen! And thank you for the congrats! I haven't spoken to you in some time, how are you doing; and what are you working on, and is your yard kindling like mine? Remember the bad thunder and lightening storms that blew through last week? Lightening hit a house about a mile from here and up it went. It literally blew it out!!. There are more storms scheduled here for tomorrow. (more fun). Hopefully, it will be just rain by the time it gets to you! I am in Owego New York if you remember? Did you enter anything this year at your fair? As many projects as you had going, you surely would win! Fairwinner

Hello Mirjam! Yes I won! I even had some competition this year! The past years I had entered, there was no or little competiton. That kind of takes the fun out of it.... The judges at the fair are excited to see the tablecloth I am STILL making here to enter next year. They are very nice and enjoy crafts of all kinds. I hadn't been able to enter anything for the last 2 years, but they still looked for me each year! How nice to be remembered! I had been sick and had the back surgery if you remember my telling on previous postings'? OK the other good news I had that never showed up on the postings was I am much better now. I have been out walking and walking. The next door neighbor went with me

2 days ago and we were half dead when we got back. We wondered how far we walked. So we hopped in her car and clocked it. It was EXACTLY 5 miles! No wonder were so worn out! But I do feel much better now and my energy has picked up, I would dearly love to go back to work but the doctor still says no. Oh well. I will take what I can get!! I am glad you had a good holiday and got home safe and sound. It must have been wonderful to see all the fashions you saw!! I used to be a model a few years back and I miss seing all the new clothes and styles first hand! It is so exciting to see someones' ideas and creations in all of the patterns and color combinations and fabrics! I am so glad you had a good time and got home safely!!! Hi ! I am so glad I am seen finally! It was so creepy! I hope that all is well with you. Things are finally getting better over here, so hopefully I will be able to post and be seen now!! I have no idea what had happened and where the posts went. Lost in Space! What are you working on over there? I am still making the tablecloth in thread crochet, and I plan on starting to make some comforters. Simple ones, nothing fancy. I bought the material 2 years ago before I had my back surgery, about the same time I bought the yarn for the afghan I entered for the fair. So I guess it is time to make them now! Have a good weekend! Fairwinner

I see you now, didn't see any earlier posts though. A big congratulations on your 2 First Place winners. How exciting for you! A strange thing regarding weather happened here across town last week. There was a horrific thunderstorm with hundreds of lightning strikes. One lightning bolt hit a cable t.v. electric box in front of someones house. The lightning then traveled through the cable wires and ended up blowing out all the windows, t.v.s, computers and making huge holes in the walls of thirteen peoples houses-all neighbors on the same street whose cable lines all went into the box! Isn't that a nightmare? (I never thought about anything like that happening.) Poor people! Marie and the cats

Congratulations on your wins at the fair! :o)

The problems I had getting on the newsgroup was because of the dorky newsreader being down through our ISP... which took them a long time to fix. I did come across, and figured out how to use, the Groups through

formatting link
so I was able to read and post to the newsgroup while the newsreader was still down. Something you might be interested in getting for yourself as a "just-in-case".... I am keeping my account with them in case the newsreader gives me trouble again. :o)

Peace! Gemini

Fairwinner, I do not do as many projects these days as I used to do "in my youth". Knitting is now only for my youngest daughter who lives in Melbourne and therefore has lots of cold weather - the eldest daughter does not need them even though she is in Melbourne as she still has every jumper I have ever knitted her !! besides which she has to dress "corporate style" that excludes such things.

I make an occasional vest for myself which is the most I need in this climate - so that leaves me at the moment doing lots of 6 x 6 to build up my reserve in that department .

I am also knitting a jumper for a lady I met while in Perth who admired the vest i was wearing- she had some fine pure wool she had spun herself and figured it would take too long for her to knit a jumper in the pattern of the vest I had . So, of course, I offered to knit it for her. So far I have been home a month and have only done about 6 inches of the back but since our winter is almost over I figure I have until nest May or June to finish it !! God Bless Gwen
