Almost OT: Happy Dance

Yesteday evening was good to me!

I finished my middle DD's crochet afghan. It's an complicated pattern, lace and picots, sized for a double bed.

I finished it after she'd fallen asleep for the night so threw it over her in her sleep so she woke up to find it there.

The girls were nice enough to bring it to my attention that they all needed new afghans about a month ago. So that means one down two to go!

Congrats on the finish! Since you and I both know I'll never master knitting (I've finally conceded defeat. It's that death grip thing) I may just try crocheting again this winter. Gives me something to do with my hands that I can do without magnifiers. Plus, once you get the pattern established, you don't really have to keep looking at it.

Adding my congrats on one down! My 13 year old keeps hinting at a couple crocheted vest patterns she's seen at Hobby Lobby. I wanted to get her to talk to her gramma, who's much better at crochet than me, to see about getting her started. Of course, she's already becoming quite the serial starter as it is...

Isn't it nice to finish something and know it's appreciated like that. I love to crochet, but I have very little need for that kind of thing here.

Why is this "Almost OT?" Isn't there a rule that says something like--take a long thin object (sometimes called a needle) and push it through something. If there's no such rule, there should be.

What a great feeling to have finished something that is complicated and a challenge.

Congratulations for the finish!

Over the 3-day weekend I finished a red scarf for the Red Scarf Project (that makes 3) and one fingerless glove (Knitty.com - Fetching.) I am in the middle of the second glove now (as well as 3 socks and another red scarf that is hiding somewhere.)

Yes, that's it. Because she was talking about a crochet hook, and it's wrapped around the needle and not through the needle, I fudged a bit.

I thought if I wrote it the correct way someone would be nice enough to notice the mistake, so I wimped out. lol

That's really why it was "almost OT"....cuz it's yarn and the hook has no eye! lol

2nd afghan of the 3 is well underway. This one worked in vertical stripes, so l-o-n-g rows! Oldest dd has interesting color sense--main color white, with turquoise, voilet and rose stripes.

Saving smallest one for last, youngest dd has a twin-sized bed! lol

I made a baby blanket for my therapist's new daughter a few years ago - just took a simple granny square & kept going til it was crib sized! He loved it, she loved it, the mom loved it - the little girl is 3 now & we share cookies when I go in to appointments now.

I had wanted to do that with at least one of the afghans, but naturally not one of the girls wanted one like that. They went on the internet to find patterns they liked better.

Darn those computer literate children of mine! lol
