Yippee!!!! I finished a quilt in the same century that I started it. In fact, I finished it in the same year. Yesterday I finished the quilt top that I made with the U.S. Army pillow panel for DH. I just have to send it to my SIL to be quilted now. As soon as I get it back I'll post pictures of it. I am so excited. It turned out much better than I expected it too. There are some things that I could have done better if I would have had a little more patience and thought it out a little better. But it still turned out pretty good. I ended up putting a white with red/silver/blue stars border around the pillow panel, then a white/gold Ohio Star around that, then a border of flag fabric, then rectangles of alternating red & blue, then the Flag/Eagle fabric for the final border. It will have gold binding on it and probably a navy or royal blue backing. I told my SIL to use her own judgment on the backing since she is going to get that fabric for me. I am so excited to have actually finished it.
I had it laid out on the bed yesterday to measure for the final border. Of course I had the door shut since hubby had come home from work early. He opened the door and peeked in and I jerked it up off the bed. He was so cute. He asked me "Am I not supposed to see that? I was looking for you cause you disappeared." I told him that I didn't want him to see it till it was finished because it was a special one. He was ok with that. Later in the evening, I was in the spare bedroom looking at some fabric debating on what I wanted to do about another project. He knocked on the door and asked me if he could come in. So we sat in there talking about quilting. He is just the best. I am so lucky.
