I vote for backstitch, then bead. I sometimes find that a bead will sit over a backstitch, so that if you bead first, you are trying to stitch under the bead.

I prefer to the the backstitching first, because when I bead first I tend to catch the BS thread in the beads.

Whichever floats your boat! ;-) Personally I`d backstitch first - possibly easier than trying to negotiate a needle past a bead afterwards?

Depends on where they go. Personally, backstich first, then bead - less handling on the beads, and doing them to make sure they stand up nicely - not look like little teeny donuts - unless that's what you want.

Also - I tend to leave white (expecieally silk) til late, and any stitches that are of the very loose variety so they can be anchored well, and won't get pulled around too much.

Just my experience.

I always back stitch first, then bead. I find it too clumsy to do it the other way.
