Who taught you to stitch.

I learned how to do needlework from my Great Grandma and my Grandma. I am an asthmatic and as a child, the doctor made me stay inside. One rainy Kentucky day, I was driving Grammie and Grandma up the walls. Driving them crazy with why this, why that and how does that work. They set me down and showed me how to Tatt and then Needlework. I am passing Needlework and Tatten to my child now. I am always grateful to those two special ladies for their knowledge they gave me.

Also they gave me my first pattern: Teddy in HighChair.

My grandmother, to a lesser extent my mother and finally I ended up teaching myself.

I am teaching a friend's daughter, anyone who asks and hopefully my daughter. I'd teach my son, but I'm not sure he'd want to!

I taught myself cross stitch. A friend taught me crochet long ago, but I don't do it any more. I know my mother did surface embroidery, and she made clothes for us, so I think more than teaching me specifics, she set that example for me.

I taught myself to stitch, beginning a kit and with Erica Wilson's big book on needlework and following the diagrams. I also taught myself to knit--the Vogue Knitting Book was the source there. Dawne

I learned surface embroidery as a child from my mother. She later also taught me to knit and crochet with some finer points taught by a former boss when I was in college. I taught myself how to do crewel in college when my best friend started a kit and didn't want to finish it, so I did for her.

My oldest sister was the first to teach me how to sew clothes when I was in jr. high.

I discovered ccs through a coworker in the late 70s and fell in love. The rest, they say......

I am going to learn tatting at the CATS festival in 2 weeks. :)
