Is it okay to post pottery books I'm selling on this newsgroup?

I have some nice pottery books I want to sell on eBay, and wonder if I can post a notice here?

Personally I don't see a problem, some though might consider it spam.

I don't want people here to feel exploited, but since there's no general outcry, I'll post one book and see it it attracts any attention. Please see the message below.

The original meaning of spam, as related to newsgroups and the internet was an off topic posting, typically trying to sell some sort of scam or cheap product, shot into thousands of newsgroups at once. The end result of this being as attractive and useful as taking some of the REAL Spam and flinging it up against a wall as hard as one can. (Of course, if you have never seen Spam, that probably does not help that much...but I recommend experimentation as the best tool for learning *smile*). The ignorant masses have alas, decayed that meaning, though, to apply it to ANY "commercial" posting. The general accepted practice these days appears to be that if you have an on-topic item to sell, and, don't post about it more than once every few weeks, AND, take part in the general discussion on the groups, only about 5% of the other posters will whine like stuck pigs over it. Everyone else will appreciate it. So...in a kind of long-winded way...and stepping off my soapbox, I would say "post away." IF you are going to try and move them here before hitting Ebay, I would recommend that it include the title of the book, the general condition of the book, what you want to get for it, and an idea of what shipping would cost, or, at least, the zip code you live in, so we can us the UPS website to calculate approximate shipping costs. If what you are asking is if you can post a link to the ebay auctions...that should be OK too. Just be sure to put "FA" at the start of the subject line, so folks that skim through can skip it if they are not inerested in the "For Auction" items.
