I agree! I get ricehusk ash for my Nuka glazes from the farmer's fields around my house. It is a sillica white glaze. If you add 4% you get green, sometimes red in reduction.

Try this Cone 9 Rice Hull glaze. One of my favorites.
Base: Rice Hull Ash = 30% Oak Ash = 30% Kingman Spar = 40%
When appling try using differnt mesh size rice hall for differnt result and tecture. Rember rice hall ash is almost 99% silica. A finer mesh ash is going to give you a smoother glaze. Try using differnt wood ash for the oak ash. It love reduction with various amounts of red iorn and crocus marcius. It can be seen on a pot in Herb Sanser's book " Glazes ForSpecial Effects".
