wheel advice

the remote pedal is nice - compared to the regular shimpos with the pedal stuck on the side of the wheel. if/when you start throwing larger stuff it's nice to stand up and throw from other positions. that pedal stick on the regular shimpos just doesn't always work right when throwing taller stuff. i find the foot faster for speed adjustments.

shimpos in general are good wheels. the weights they refer to are useful from a comparison point of view ~ much like car gas mileage.

the only "con" i can see with a shimpo is it isn't a Brent.

I would look at how the motor is mounted underneath. I bought a Shimpo V35 I think. The motor wasn't attached to a crossbrace and I found that at a certain speed the motor would start to shudder. I'm not sure about the model you're referring to. I do know I returned the Shimpo for a Pacifica

I also have a Shimpo Rk...something. It has the fixed pedal with bar on the side. The RK stands for ring/cone which is the drive mechanism, not a belt. It provides a lot of torque at low speeds and has very smooth and gradual incrementing of speed. A few disadvantages are that the wheel head tends to continue moving slightly with the motor running and also that it is rather heavy at around 100 pounds...so you don't move it around much. I think it is a very good wheel, definitely well made.

I got a Shimpo Whisper and I really like it. It has some definite advantages. But, mostly it seems to be a solid machine that will last long (hopefully through many pots).

Mine does that too, you can adjust that, but now it turns clockwise slowly when it is supposed to stand still. It stops doing that though after a while, when it gets warm.

I have the Shimpo RK Whisper and the only thing I can fault it on is that it so quiet that I can't tell if I have turned if off and too often leave the switch on. Really nice machine. I like having the handle better than the foot pedal because I can get finer control with it than I can with a pedal and it is completely out of the way if I want to throw a large plate (been a while since I have done that though)..
