2nd invitation to block swap

I would like to invite anyone who wishes to join a friendly scrappy block swap. The few rules are simple.

  1. The swap is open until May 1, after that no new members.
  2. Many have already joined (we are hoping to entice 16 - 20). You will have to choose a 12" block pattern, 12 1/2" unfinished, you know the rules on block size, to make for each participant. So, if 16 join you will have to make 16 blocks.
  3. The blocks can be made with your scraps. We ask that you do not use obvious children's fabric. Each one will be probably different. Just make the colors look nice together.
  4. On May 1 everyone will submit a block #1 and block #2 idea to the list. First come first served. if 10 people want to do courthouse steps only the first one that got their entry in gets to do it, the other 9 have to choose something else. I suggest you all go to Quilters Cache to look through the
12" blocks to see what you like so I can post block pics in the photo section to keep everyone apprised of the picks. You can submit you block choice with your ick colors only, however please remember that other people have a way of putting together those colors in marvelous ways.
  1. Make sure all your blocks measure 12 1/2" unfinished so we can get them sewn into a quilt! 11 1/2 just won't do.
  2. You will have until September 1st to get your blocks done. That is 4 months! Please, no slackers. If you get started on them right away that should not be a problem. You can send them as you go or you can send them when you are all done. If you are done July 1st you can send them all out then.
  3. There will be a prize for the first one done. That is not an onus, that is in appreciation of your effort.

I am so torn because I really want to swap with you all!!! I even picked out a block! But I know I will not take the time to pace myself and I would be cramming all the sewing into the few days before the deadline.... I did it with the 8 blocks I had to make for a guild exchange!!

Since I started my long arm quilting business, my piecing time is limited. Working for payments is so *not* fun! I love to quilt but I also love to piece - - - such a dilemma!

Have fun with it all!!

So Sorry Laurie. This is definately going to be an easy swap. There are 12 of us already signed up. 4 more and we will have enough for a quilt! I figure with the scrappyness of it it can even be tied, getting it done that much faster.

It will start May first. You can complete your blocks anytime after May first but have to have them done by September first. If you are speedy you can have them all done by the end of May and then just sit back and wait for all the squishies to come to you! Sounds like fun to me.

I think I have passed the hurdles, my membership is pending.

There are 5-6 graduation quilts I will need to make by 2010...

I'm sorry about that. I thought I could figure out how to do it. I was hoping everyone would get a welcome, but I guess I was wrong. Sorry. You are very welcome, and hope you have fun!
