Here's the story:
The quilt is beautiful, and not wanting any stretching during the putting on of the binding, the entire outer edge of the quilt was machine basted. Hmmm...... forgot to square up said quilt.
After squaring it is noticed that the nice machine basting, which runs beautifully parallel to the inner seam line of the last border, now has a rather wide variance along the outer edge ranging from 1/16 to 5/8 inch. The binding has already been made, all yards and yards of it. So...
Set the needle and sew the first side to be sure it will cover the stitches of the basting in ever various place. Wonderful job. Flip it over (those doomsday words) and see if the binding will cover the widest variance on the back. Of course not.
(enter migraine headache on the side, has nothing to do with anything but the weather)
Pick up and continue project after migraine, but still under the post migraine fog. (note to self - never, never, never do this)
I have a solution to this binding problem. I had an inspiration during my migraine down time. I trimmed the outer edge of the quilt+binding a very nice even 1/4" from the binding seam line. NOW the binding DOES cover the basting line at any given place on the back. I'm a genius!
Wait. What's this? WAIT! What IS this!! .......... Ohhhhhh yeahhhhhhh............ the FOLD. I have trimmed away the fold on every one of the corners of the binding. (deeeeeflated sigh)
Do I have to - what? What can I do here? And one more thing - This Is Not My Quilt, This Is A Pay Job.
