A couple of projects finished

Your jacket is gorgeous! The bargello jacket I made was done on a batting foundation; I used Thermore. I've been very happy with it. It's not as elegant as yours though.

Thanks, Julia. :) Mine doesn't have any batting at all in it, but it's still quite heavy because there are so many layers of fabric/seam allowances on the base fabric. I suspect it won't get much use until next fall -- it's sort of silly to wear a jacket in 100° heat. ;)

Oh wow, that jacket is very elegant Sandy. Glad you were able to muddle through and get it done.

The little scrapbag/pin cushion is so cute! I wouldn't mind trying it myself--but I've got a quilt top I'm zeroing in on getting completed, so won't let myself get distracted! That happens all to easily--hence my closet full of WIPs.

Wow Sandy - that scrapbag is adorable, but the jacket is really gorgeous - what beautiful work you do.

I came very close to junking it at times, Michelle.

Michelle, that project is very quick and easy. I cut out all of the pieces for a second one (a gift) and took it to a friend's house for our monthly sewing day yesterday. I finished it there and have it ready for the post office now. The hardest part of it is getting all of the "ingredients" together.

It's called the Abbey Bag: . I made another one on Sunday for a friend in AZ (she doesn't read this group, so I'm safe mentioning it ), but I forgot to take a photo.

You are one versatile lady! That jacket is so handsome...can't imagine what it would cost in a shop. And the scrap bag is delightful.

The only clothing I trust myself to manage is a simple 6-gore skirt with elastic waistband. I love rayon challis and longish skirts and both were not easy to find when I was wearing skirts daily. New work is "business casual" and so the skirts just hang in the closet. (Mind you, I still have *lots of rayon challis...)

Thanks, Heidi! :)

I used to make all of my own clothes, from underthings and nightgowns to tailored suits to teach in. I also made all of our two DDs' clothes and many shirts and slacks for DH. No more!
