Hi Lisa - I have lots of ideas - lots of knitting wool - lots of discontinued designer home-dec samples - lots of batting scraps to make whole again - and now, thanks to Polly's advice, I have permission to play again tomorrow. The shop lady first tried the machine after picking up some worn cashmire jackets from the charity shop - she is wearing them proudly now! Good work on the purse - did you have any trouble deciding which side you preferred to be the 'show' side? I ran the machine in circles over a scrap flannelette block and the underside looked like a fuzzy embroidery design - something to keep in mind for another project maybe? jennellh (change the mail to news)

Have fun with your new machine! I got one too! It was an early Mother's day present from my sweet dh :-). I've already made a purse. It was made from a felted sweater, wool roving and wool yarn. It was really fun to do. Got pics up on my site, addy is under my name.

Hi Jennellh, Thank you ! :-) No, no trouble deciding on the 'right' side because the sweater felt was very thick. There was only a faint showing of the roving and yarns on the back side.

I would like to try denim next. I'm going to try to look for a denim jacket, or maybe turn a pair of jeans into another purse and embellish that with felting. It will be awhile though...many quilting obligations to get out of the way before I can rightfully play again.

In Celebration Of Quilts at Century Village Historical Museum, which is on the town square in Burton, Ohio- approximately the intersection of route 700 and route 87. It's in Geauga County east of Cleveland, Ohio. Saturday & Sunday May 19th & 20th

10am to 5pm both days. There will be several guilds there and vendors, a speaker, some quick classes, quilts for raffles and quilts for sale, and most guilds sell things like old quilt magazines, books, and bags of scraps. Old mags are usually a quarter apiece. It is a beautiful rural area with a pretty good size Amish community. The museum owns some antique quilts, usually a few of them are on display in the church. If you come, I will be there Saturday morning with the Sheauga Quilters Guild. There is an admission charge. You can eat at the show or there are restaurants on the square: Joels- Italian food, Belle's- American food- I love their meatloaf, and Cogans- good sandwiches, a log cabin that sells maple syrup & candy, and a couple more restaurants I don't go to much. If you go east about 6 miles on 87 you get to Middlefield where on Saturday you can visit the Cheese Factory or eat at Mary Yoders Amish restaurant-(closed on Sunday), both on route 608. There are more quilts displayed in Mary Yoder's.
