Quilt Show in Davenport Iowa

My guild's show is tomorrow and Saturday at the Mississippi Valley Fair Grounds. There is a gorgeous raffle Storm at Sea quilt along with vendors and, of course, the show. I got to see some of the quilts today--there was a good variety of nicley made quilts. Also, one of the vendors is from California--Sweet Treats are in the building.

I just noticed that announcement on our guild's webpage Mary. How do I get to the Fair Grounds? Do you know the hours?? yum! Sweet Treats! I'll be there...probably tomorrow...no, maybe Saturday. The football game traffic will be the opposite of me, so that would be ok. KJ

Sorry I didn't plan my life better this fall. I should have scheduled this to be the weekend I spend with my mother. We are leaving for a family wedding next Tuesday and of course I am not ready to go. I picked up the flyer on your show months ago while visiting the shop in East Moline and then didn't add the date to my calendar at home.

My October event with my mother is a drive to Muscatine, Iowa to visit a friend. While the older women talk I plan to visit the quilt shop at the Button Factory. Don't know how many days I will spend in the Quad Cities in October. There will probably be some fall yard work I can help with by then. Mom re-stained her deck by herself this summer. At

Susan... .you should be proud of your Mom )I'm sure you are) -- while certainly she needs to be careful at the tasks she chooses... I wish my DM was more like her. She is 70, healthy but just a wee bit overweight. I can't for the life of me get her to get out of her recliner. She sits and watches TV almost all of her waking hours. I've tried all kinds of things... and have decided... she just isn't going to change. When she visits me.... she will walk through the stores with me... or should I say crawl... drives me nuts. I can't go that slow! We go to the grocery story and I can go in and fill a cart... pay and be on the way out before she makes it into the store (well not literally -- but almost!)

I've had her to the Doctor -- there is NOTHING wrong with her. She is not depressed or anything like that. She just doesn't "like" to garden... or sew... or go for a walk or..... She just has NO initiative to do anything! Makes me nuts....

I'd love her to have your Mama's get up and go.. even for just a couple of hours a day.

God Bless your DSM.... she sounds like a wonderful woman!

I'm not sure about a quilt shop at the button factory, but there are a couple on the main drag in downtown. Neal's Sewing shop...or Neal's something or other. The Cotton Shop is the other one. It's got a lot of primitives. There might also be a little shop owned by the Cotton Shop on that same block with their brights. I can't remember if they were going to keep that one going or not. KJ

The Cotton Shop has now consolidated into one space--both primitives and brights are there. Neal's is still there as well. Mary

I will check with you before we go. Will also call the shops. Haven't set the date yet but it will probably be the third week of October.

Ok, I'll see what I can find out about some of the nearby shops. There is a great yarn shop and a nice dress shop in a little mall on the main street.

In that same mini mall is an ice cream shop, and a little shop whose owner bought out the Muscatine button factory stock several years ago. She has a lot of neat pins, etc made from the buttons.KJ
