A quilt event in Virginia

Today was the Annual Women's Club Spring Luncheon at my Church. Women come from several local Churches, and we enjoy a variety of salads and dessert, all form our own kitchens. We also have a program. This year the committee decided the program should be about ..... QUILTS!

So, the several of us quilters were invited to put up a display of quilts, and talk about quilt making. I spoke about two topics: the making of the Relay for Life raffle quilt, the Double Irish Chain; and the Quilts of Valor several of us make. We displayed the raffle quilt, three quilts of Valor, a raffle for Alzheimer Assoc quilt, and numerous personal quilts and accessories. Several church members loaned us some old family quilts, too. The personal quilt I displayed is the RCTQ Signature Quilt I made with signature blocks collected in 2000. One of the Quilts of Valor has several blocks that an RCTQ friend donated. All the quilts were lovely, and the program was well received. We sold about 200 raffle tickets! Several people donated money to defray the costs of mailing QoV to troops. Also, the club always provides a 'speakers fee' for the annual event; this year the fee was a direct donation to our Quilt Guild's QoV fund. All in all, this was a very successful and very pleasant day.

The chocolate was good too! ;)
