RCTQ Quilting Week 2008

I am fortunate enough to be the Thimbleberries coordinator this year for one of my LQS, so I am making the shop sample. I've been racing the shop owner in trying to complete the Lodge colorway, she is working on the Lakeside one. (And my shop kit came in late!) Every few days I call her and say "Month 5", "Month 6", etc. All good natured fun! (But I'm winning!) I'm ready to assemble the blocks into a top! I don't think I've ever worked so hard or so fast on something that will not even go to my family or friends! And all the while, I have to keep extensive notes for the classes - whew! :-) Anyway, off to finish Month 12! Setting Triangles, outer borders and we'll be dancing by the end of the week! Let's see. Monday I spray basted two small quilts and started the machine quilting on one of them. Tuesday I got a couple of magazines and catalogs in the mail and read one of the magazines and both catalogs while I had lunch. Wed. I helped set up the TreadleArt booth at the Sewing/Craft show that I am working at today, tomorrow and Sat. I also did some hand quilting on my Dear Jane quilt. Today I am getting ready to head down to the show, and will probably look around the booth some and see what all I want to buy.... they have lots of books, some notions and patterns and good prices on Olfa and Omni products. Hope to get a chance to wander the show a bit and see what all I can spend money on. (Since I am getting paid for the work........) Will probably do some more hand quilting in the evenings.

I didn't know this was going on, but I have basted one quilt and am finishing up the blocks to sew together for another quilt. I also made blocks for other groups. Also one of the gals on one of my other groups is doing a lesson on makeing a heart quilt useing 3 different techniques this week-end.

Now my queston: I know that the Quilter's Cache has the tutorial on line but does anyone know of a site where I can print the instructios off? I love her's but I can't copy it it won't let me. I hate haveing to go back and forth to my computer to finish the quilts I do this way.

I've printed off most of the 12" block patterns from there. It must be your computer, because I have no trouble at all printing any of them. Gen

Mary Jo's is awesome. We stop there every year on our treks between Ontario and Florida! My RCTQ Quilting Week started with a visit to Road to California quilt show. Upon our return to Florida, I found an email from my guild re: May quilt show. Deadline for entry forms, with picture and artist statement is February 6th. I have all my quilts made except one, which is still in pieces. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get the forms in on time, so have to contact the co-coordinator to see if I can get a reprieve! I've been madly trying to get the machine appliqué finished, so I can get the quilt top pieced to be photographed. Also had my quilt group on Wednesday afternoon. Since I was in California the previous week, everyone was ready and anxious to get at their projects. Had several new people ask if they could join in - up to about 20 quilters meeting once a week! Good thing DH is a good cook, although I did make a pizza from scratch for dinner tonight.

And here I thought somebody might be frog-stitching! Roberta in D

ok, i've also gotten a catalog and magazines, read those in bed last night, did an order out of the catalog. sandwiched and pinbasted a quilt for my saturday sampler class at the LQS will start quilting that tonite. finished some HUG blocks and got those out in the mail. started a "Snoopy and Charlie Brown" quilt for my neice. have all the HST done, but have to put the blocks together and cut the sashing and borders. still a WIP, but i think i can get to that this weekend sometime, as a break from the other quilt. planning a "Family Bee" for spring. DS, DM, and i usually go shop hopping and do a few quilts on the long arm one week out of the month in March, going to push it off to April as i'll be in California during march.

I am committed to making a King size stack and whack to match the wallhanging I made this week (I should be committed LOL)

I really like little projects I can complete. Headed out to the LQS with DW to look at stack and whack fabrics. Glad this week is almost over!

I have been promising my wife a new quilt for the bed. I just got home from buying fabric (one of my favorite things). I probably won't start on it until middle of march. (I already changed the design 3 times at the store LOL). I really don't like oriental fabric that much but something about this one just said buy me. Although the quilt will be blues instead of burgandy's. I hope it won't end up listed on the RCTQ Git it done list!

With nobody home but wife and I, nights that used to be spent in front of the TV are now spent sewing. Having my office in my house also helps.

Visited a quilt shop in Dublin a couple of weeks ago, Red Rooster I think it was called. Very nice. I was done early in columbus and headed for Cleveland so stopped and spent an hour and some $$$.
