Adding a Polyester Blend?

May 20, 2007 1 Replies

I'm piecing a back and found a poly blend or two in my stash (hope there are no others!) that goes well with the other big squares. Everything else in this twin-size scrap quilt is 100% cotton, and I'll use cotton batting as well. I'll MQ. The recipient won't care about having poly in there, but when the quilt is washed, will it look weird because the cotton (all prewashed, but still....) will shrink and the poly won't? I'd use it as about 10" strips or blocks. Any reason not to use it?

TIA

It will shrink -the crinkles come mainly from the cotton batting. And unless you pre-washed it, you can expect about 3% shrinkage. Crinkles also come from lots of quilting, which I would recommend. The poly part will wear differently from the cotton, and plenty of quilting will help disguise it. Roberta in D
